Freight/Cargo question

Yup, I have Don's most excellent errata, and there is a change for that section, but it doesn't resolve this question.
I was hoping.

I've posted a link to this topic over on the TML on the thread Don started recently that mentions his most recent update to the MT Errata file as of 25-Jul-2006.

Who knows? Perhaps an answer will work its way into the Errata.

(My TML e-mails seem to be taking a very long time to post, so I'm not exactly sure when my message will actually appear on the list.)

Guess Marvo noted the statement that gives the hint, how to do that.
Honestly, I never had worries about that rule section until Mark came up with this question

It looks like you just roll 2 sets of data.
On Page 50, Step 3 states 'Cargo and Freight are both determined beginning at Step 5'. To me that sound like you use the same steps for both.
Hm, you're right, it does sound like that is what's intended.

To save time I would use Mort's T20Trading utility. It's for T20 but I think the basic logic is the same. It just gives you the number of passengers, cargo lots and speculative cargo. You still have to determine what they actually are yourself.

Download it here:

Excellent. Thanks for the link.

I'll admit, I've always assumed that the note in step 3 meant rolling for cargo and freight separately in step 5.
And I thought it was pretty clear, as in "not needing errata"

My personal clarification would be "From the note under Step 3, Freight and Cargo are determined separately in Step 5."

Your campaign may vary

Note that the Trading section of Knightfall infers two rolls, and then provides potential freight lots for use in-game. So, based on the inference, I'll add a note to the errata.
