Free Trader PBEM/PBP Players Wanted

Chaos

SOC-12
Right, let´s try again here since the PBP section seems to be deserted.

I´m looking for players for a Free Trader style Play-by-Post or Play-by-Email game. It is basically the same game I ran early last year, except that hopefully it will run longer this time.

The setting is not strictly Traveller, but I think close enough in feeling that those who like Traveller will enjoy it as well.
Some details to be found here: http://www.travellerrpg.com/CotI/Discuss/showthread.php?t=21467
I am right now preparing background information to send to anyone who is interested in playing.

I´m looking for at least two and up to six additional players, in addition to the two who have already signed up.

If you are interested, please PM me or post here, and state if you would prefer to play PBP or PBEM.

Astrogator / Purser reporting in:

Samuel 'Sam' Henderson
UPP: 576A97
Age: 26

Ship Skills....................Astrogation-3, Ship's Boat-1, Pilot-0, Vacc Suit-0,
Cargo/Passenger Skills....Admin-2, Legal-2, Liaison-1, Steward-1, Trader-1, Broker-0,
Engineering Skills...........Elec-0, Mech-0, Eng-0
Combat Skills................Handgun-0, Shotgun-0

Sam was born and raised aboard a large starship belonging to a small Interface Merchant Line (trade across political boundaries).

TERM 0:
At 14, sam was old enough ‘to start earning his keep’ aboard the starship where his father served as Second Officer. He worked his way up from a Steward’s gofer, through Engineer’s gofer, Trader’s gofer, and finally up to Bridge gofer. This ‘junior apprenticeship’ allowed him to pick up a general familiarity (skill-0) with many areas of merchant starship operation and revealed a natural aptitude for Astrogation (Nav-1).

TERM 1:
Old enough to get his working papers, Sam was hired to fill an open position in the Purser Department - perpetually short staffed and always looking for competent people. A fortuitous opportunity to work as an assistant to an executive from the Administration Department accompanying the ship on a Speculative Trade mission, allowed Sam to gain a solid understanding of the mercantile and administrative side of running a starship for profit (Admin-1, Legal-1) and a 15,000 credit bonus for a very profitable year. Suddenly, the Purser’s Department didn’t seem quite so dull. Still dreaming of being a Bridge Officer, Sam called in every favor and family friend to land a slot in the line’s Helm Training Program for the last tear of the term, enabling him to improve his natural aptitude (Nav-2).

TERM 2:
Fresh out of the Helm Training program, Sam transferred to the Deck Department and went to work as an Astrogator. Four years of following a safe, well established trade route left him with plenty of time to study for exams (4th Officer, 3rd Officer & 2nd Officer Certification). An occupational hazard of transshipping cargo through or transporting cargo between rival political jurisdictions, is that a starship will frequently run into battles involving bureaucratic paperwork. Serving as astrogator aboard the ship you grew up on, does not exempt you from being called ashore to deal with ‘Purser’ issues if you have prior Mercantile experience. As a result, Sam found ample opportunity to improve both his Astrogation (Nav-3) and Administrative (Admin-2, Legal-2, Liaison-1) skills. Big fish eat little fish, and the small interface line was purchased by a larger merchant line. New company policy limits relatives working on the same ship, so Sam was not retained as ship’s Astrogator at the end of his term.

TERM 3:
Sam Henderson presents his Certification papers to the Captain to sign aboard a new Merchant starship as an Astrogator (Nav-3) and Purser (Admin-2, Legal-2).

Mikhail Kozlov, M.D.

Mikhail Kozlov recently transferred down – let go by his former line – only to be picked up by Crescent Cargo. He never mentions his previous employer nor does he discuss the details of his sacking. Whatever the particulars, it’s clear that he’s a talented and capable physician who is well versed in the shipboard life of a merchant.
