He could have gotten a different region disk 3.
It seems the publisher had a bit of problem in making the set - I had to return mine to Suncoast because the disk 2 was another copy of disk 3...Then we opened all the ones in the store to find a valid set...But it was worth it.
I only own LOTR SE and the Matrix on DVD, and now proudly add the Firefly Set to the mix.

Don't wait for crappy Sci-Fi network to screw it up, go out and buy the box today - it's only $40 and it makes infinite more sense the way Joss sets out the story over the randomized version shown on Fox (who must have the same idiot execs that Sci-Fi has)
