Actually it is related to the subject "Favorite Nuisance Creature". Several times people have posted that Trader Jim is thier favorited nuisance critter. Also the concept of trained animals as a nuisance was demostrated.

I just had to protect myself from the nuisance.

Ship's Cats can be helpful; they take care of all the other nuisance critters that manage to sneak onboard at every planetfall. Either that or the critter eats them first, so you've got some minor clue that the effluvium is about to impact the oscillating aerator.

Of course, of all of the beings on the Nostromo in the first movie, only the Ship's Cat survived. Even Ripley bought it in Aliens III.

As far as nuisances go, I always liked Doyle's Eel from JTAS #15. It was a sort of woodworm that ate metal. Not the sort of thing you want on a starship!

I'm gonna have to backtrack and read that one up again! Yer he second guy from UK to remember that one- RichardP bein the other (he's under the weather guys and gals- food poisonin', wish him well!).
Richard told me how they used them (Doyles Eels) to "kill off" a vampire ship in a TNE scenario in His campaign (he lives in Newton le Willows btw), and later went back periodically to see when it was "safe" to approach it for salvage. They didnae have the RC or "SNAKE" AVV weapon-they used the 'biological approach" --to excellent affect!.
