Fascinating new touchscreen technology

For those helo displays... wasn't there a bad SciFi show on a few years ago where the captain of a ship had a display of some old dude that would give him advice and stuff, that was projected onto some sort of mist? I can't remember the show now...

Sounds like "The Starlost" - the 70's show disowned by Harlan Ellison.

That was a booth. That you sat in while projected on a screen was an older guy with thick glasses and a beard. And he would always say "Can I be of assistance?"

Seaquest had in the captain's quarters a holo screen that looked like a waterfall of mist. And the old quy was the ships builder I think.

That holo tank from SeaQuest was actually based on a then current real world system that used diodes and a spining, shaped disc.
