Eternal Question about University.

I've got a question that has been asked many times, but all the answers were comming from other player's understanding of the prior history rules.

"Do University count as a Term for the purpose of the "Maximum Terms" limit?"

I've searched and seen many "yes", some "no" but no definitive answers or answers from Ancients.

I'd appreciate greatly if this "small but annoying" point could be clarified once and for all, it's be bugging me more and more ever since I've begun rolling up characters :(

By the way, if the answer's Yes, then how do we deal with the difference with the Bachelor/Masters/Doctorate degree? Is doing multiple degree multiple terms? How do we deal with characters that go in University for a Bachelor degree, take one or two terms, go back for a Masters degree, another term or two and finally go back for a Doctorate degree?

Thanks!

Hunter,

University doesn't count against max terms?

*shudder*

That makes Sandman's example in my prior thread even more egregious since his little munchkin could get another 8 terms in. For my proposal, I would probably say that it does, just for balance sake.

Edit: I changed my mind since reading Hunter's posts below.

It never has. In CT term counts didn't start until you enlisted into one of the services.

Hunter,

I believe you. Remember it has been years since I played CT (almost 10 years in fact). I do remember that University was strictly a young-man's approach even in CT because it did add age to the character (as it does now).

For those using my suggested system in "Balanced Parties", I also suggest not counting University as a term since it is a self-limiting system. It gives many other benefits after all (better EDU, OTC, and others). The age is it's own price IMHO.

For those, however, using the standard Prior History rules, this could be a real problem IMHO (see my response to Sandman!).

Well, Many Thanks to Hunter for this very prompt and concise answer! :D

And Polaris, your idea is nice, but since I like to have a very broad range of PC available for me to use^H^H^Hgame for, I'll drop it from the Terms.
