Has any one heard when/if the next book will be out.

FFE web page seems to have drop a lot of info with its revamped new look.

No. And not only that, no one will even answer the question.

Avery/MWM has completely detached himself from the boards. But even those with access to him won't even respond to the question.

Consequently, the apparent answer is:

"There is no timetable for the next set of reprints. Be happy when they do come out, but don't set any plans by them."

Unfortunately those with access can onyl ask him,a nd he may have either not answered, said he doesn't know, or asked those with access not to comment. Thsi si really something that only Marc can answer.

Well, it would seem that Far Future is caught up in a whole host of RPG publishing woes.

Remember, it is a print shop that generally brings home for Marc & his wife...and photocopier shops these days are probably at the breaking even stage due to market saturation. ALthough, I haven't done a Yellow Page analysis of the situation in Normal, IL, I am sure that it pretty well conforms to this.

At the same time, we have to believe that FFE is going to release T5 or at least, partner with some big name to release it. But, who outside our community is really interested? I am sure that Marc is also carefully watching the D20 market (especially those involved in SFRPGs), as more companies fail, the more room there will be for CT and MT. Naturally, he does not want T20 to fail but the competitors who put out crap and gives SFRPG a bad name...and, it might be my imagination, but, I could swear that CCGs are making a return or it could be the dying gasps of the RPG industry.

One is for sure, that, as much as Marc may value feedback from fans ever persistant whinning about reprints do not help unless you happen to be a Bank Manager who is willing to offer a very high line of credit at very low rates of interest...

So when writing to Marc or addressing Marc, praise the work of the past before moving on to the future, as I am sure there is no greater thrill for a game designer to hear: "Thanks, for expanding the frontiers of my imagination and in real life I became a ... because your game."

Sorry if I came off as winning.

That was not my intent.

I've been play CT in the OTU with my son and his friends every Sunday Night for about 4 months now. Feels good to do some face-to-face RPGing again.

But my own collection of CT items is lacking do to a flood few years ago. I lost all except my copys of Book 1-3 :(

I was asking about the reprints so that my son can expereance the OTU about the same way I did. :D

I have bought all of the reprints so far, and was just wondering if anyone know a rough date for the next release

As well, the reprints are a much more cost effective way to get this stuff than trolling e-bay and hoping I don't get out bid at the last second.

Don't worry Wolfman, I was probably the whiner.

My point, however, was not to complain that the other/next reprints have not come out. I more than understand the concept of priorities and putting the food on the table.

My complaint is the complete lack of information. It doesn't matter if there is a revised timetable, or (more likely) simply no timetable. But, at the very least, he could say that. It costs absolutely no money, and will likely engender some good will with his customers, if he would just come out and say that the reprints are on hiatis (which appears to be the case).

Also, just to be clear, I own a copy of all current reprints. I still plan on buying the next two reprints. I still hope to see the "Modules" reprint sometime in my lifetime. I might (or might not) buy the MT CD-ROM. I still love Traveller whether I see the remaining reprints or not.

I would just like to know if I will see them.

Which Modules?

I saw the Alien Modules reprints in my local gaming store last week.

I beleive dayran is refering to, Tarsus and Beltstrike, among other items. Don't recall now and the FFE web page is no longer listing future reprints. ;)

Specifically, the Spinward Marches Campaign. But also Belt Strike, Tarsus, and Alien Realms. All of these would be cool to have (regardless of their inherent quality), but not cool enough to pay eBay prices for them. SMC usually goes for stupid money. Assuming it even shows up.

The Modules Reprint was to have also included Atlas of the Imperium, but it presumably got pulled as redundant with Second Survey. If Second Survey doesn't appear, Atlas would likely be put back in.

Part of the problem with the Modules Reprint and the third JTAS Reprint is that both require extensive editing to work. The Modules Reprint will likely require several color plates and reformatting of some of the products. The third JTAS Reprint will require extensive editing to pull all of the Traveller articles out of Challenge and put them into the new format. Especially since they will probably all have to be OCR'ed.

As an aside, I would bet on Second Survey never appearing. It would take a lot of work to do right (far more than even the third JTAS Reprint), and is very easy to make mistakes on. And even if they do it right, it is only going to piss people off. (Think about it. How do you proofread 15,000 UWPs?)

Post it here as a pay to playtest and let us all loose on it
