Core Subsector

I give up - what's with the Core Subsector map in the core rules book? It looks like no other version of Core I've ever seen, and doesn't even match the one in First Survey.

The whole thing. It's totally contrived. Different from Sunbane for sure. I'd not be surprised if it's completely different from 1st Survey too.

As Robject says it's totally made up. There was quite a stink kicked up about it on the TML back in the day.

IIRC that new version of core subsector was abandoned . I think they went back to the original core subsector, as detailed in the Traveller Digests around the 9, 10 mark.

Can someone confirm? I am half a planet away from my T4 collection. (Not necessarily a bad thing...)

Hmmm just checking it out, the worlds are placed correctly for the Chant subsector which is the subsector just rimward of the Core subsector...

I think the problem was just with the Core subsector in the back of the main rulebook.

Looking back on it - not knowing that there was a canonical Core subsector (or being bothered to find out...) was a bad sign for T4.

Ok - thanks for the answers. I skipped about 15 years of Traveller and am just now getting back into it since my kids are old enough to play. So I missed T4's initial release and all the grief that went with it. Kind of glad, in a way... I have the experience of others to draw on when figuring out how to use T4.
