Converting the Chamax

Flynn

SOC-14 1K
Greetings, Fellow Sophonts,

I am looking for conversions of the chamax, as I hope to run a T20 adventure based on them. While I can do it, I'd rather focus for now on building my campaign's website. I know I stand the risk of getting multiple conversions, but that's okay. That gives me, and others that might peruse this forum, the chance to pick and choose.

Thanks in advance,
Flynn

I hate typos. This topic was meant to be entitled "Converting the Chamax." My apologies.

First you need some real brave or real stupid missionaries and some acid-proof holy writ.

Only if passive conversion doesn't seem to work... then again, chances are that it won't.

Seriously, do you have any thoughts on T20 stats for the chamax?

Hmm. The key would be to get it so that guns usually won't kill them, but a laser carbine would have a good chance--that's the balance you'd need.

Maybe you'd say they ignore Lifeblood damage entirely, but if they take 11+ stamina in a single hit (and auto-fire bonus dice don't count) their acid pouches rupture and they die.

That way the 3d8 laser fire will often kill them but the local military rifles (1d12) will usually not hurt them.

I've begun more serious considerations on this topic in preparation for an upcoming adventure I'll be running soon. I personally don't feel comfortable with ignoring all damage under a certain amount, as CT handled it. So, I'm more likely to let the Chamax have a decent AR and fast healing. They have to take a lot of damage very quickly, or they just keep coming. Not quite the same, but I can live with it a lot better. So, how does Fast Healing 5 sound to you guys? (Like D&D trolls? Yeah, I know, that's where I got the inspiration. I was thinking about DR, but then realized that DR is bypassed by magical weapons, not present in your run-of-the-mill OTU.
)

Thanks in advance for any constructive feedback,
Flynn

I'm on my way out of town for the holidays, but I'm taking my copy of the Double Adventure reprints with me, for just this same purpose.

I'll post my efforts here when I get back...

Here's my first attempt at translating the Chamax. I've only completed the mature Hunters and the Maternals, and haven't touched the First Brood or the Juveniles yet. As always, constructive feedback is appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Flynn

Oops, made a mistake. Change all Regeneration 5 references to Fast Healing 5. That way, weapons can still kill these buggers. ;)

Enjoy,
Flynn

Thanks for posting that Maksim, but the last time Flynn posted on this board was about 7 years ago. Unless he's been lurking all this time, I've got a feeling he won't get to read it.

It is possible. According to his profile, the last activity was November 2014. So someone has been using his profile, even if they don't post with it.
