CDRom Project News

I guess Marc must have sent out the Air Mail packages first for the UK folks.... I ordered when the announcement was made and still haven't received anything yet. (Not that I'm bitter or anything...
)

Of course, if he shipped domestically via media mail, that could explain it. I could walk it to the east coast faster than USPS Media Mail.

I received mine yesterday.

I would not recommend the product to anyone who already has purchased the documents from drivethru. On the whole, drivethru's scan quality and ocr is far better than the comparable documents from far-future.

I have only been able to review 4 documents so far but, if the same process/care was applied to the other books, then I can expect no better from the rest.

I am going to print them out and do a page by page comparison later to see if any discrepancies are found.

The idea of including the manuals for the MT games without the games themselves is sort of lame. I can not buy the games anymore. I can at best hope to find a pirated version. I do not run pirated software. If Marc had included the games, my opinion of the product would have been much higher.

The lack of third party MT materials is also a deep loss. If any of DGP's material had been on the CD I would have paid double or even triple what I did.

I received more value for my money by my purchase of the challange magazine reprints than what I spent on the CD.

regards

Dalton

I also ordered as soon as I saw the announcement - and the package arrived last Saturday!

Just got mine in today. Actually, was at work, so I've just now taken a cursory look at it.

Check out that Regina card... if I'm reading that right, we have a new Minor Race. At least its new to me. Any thoughts fellow sophonts.

I finally received mine yesterday and took a cursory looks at the contents.

As I thought, it was media mail. I could have walked it over here from Marc Miller's office faster, I think.

I was going to post a survey over on the survey page asking whether it was worth the money on a scale one to five.

It's up to the previous posters if they would be so kind as to edit their post to give their "satisfaction" a number rating. It would be most helpful, thanks.

One: being a waste of money because Drive Through Has the Same or better product.

Two: Still a waste of money as it added nothing.

Three: OK, I could have wished for more but I am happy for this product.

Four: Reasonably happy would have been nice if extras were included.

Five: Absolutely ecstatic best thing that has come onto the market.

I got mine on Friday.

IMTU, I'd rate it as 4.5 by Kafka's scale. But my reasons may be different than others'.

My main use for MT is as a preparation resource. I don't run MT games, but I have used its charts and forms many times, and have browsed its equipment lists. The resources from MT are great.

Anywho, I can print these out any time I like, so having them on PDF is perfect. Moreover, I have very little room to store stuff, so any shelf space I can free up is worth a lot to me.

Which reminds, me -- anyone interested in some MT stuff? Now that I have the CD-ROM, I can free up some shelf space...

Nextly, the TIFFs of the Spinward Marches are excellent to have. If I needed to, I could spend $100 (?) and get them printed at Kinko's on sturdy cardstock or something.

Finally, I now have stuff I didn't have before, which I've wanted a lot. Arrival Vengeance. Assignment: Vigilante.

Yeah. 4.5 is about right.
