Blade Maker Fix

So, Blade Maker frequently hands out things like Pen = Str which is absurd as everyone would be riding reindeer instead of tanks.

So, I have a patch in mind. It's based on the assumption that the Str is actually the number of dice the creature rolls for Strength.

Which gets me to thinking that we could flag such ratings to the strength of the weapon's user as the average of a number of dice.

1d damage = Strength 3.5
2d damage = Strength 7
3d damage = Strength 10.5
4d damage = Strength 14
5d damage = Strength 17.5
6d damage = Strength 21

I think it would be best, then to put a fixed portion of these dice into specific damage types, So a sword may do 2d cuts and a blade 1d pen.

Any thoughts?

we've discussed the insanity of armor piercing blades before Dave, I for one wholeheartedly support a reduction in T5.0...
str = pen means that a toothpick is easily much stronger than a heavy blaster.
pen = 7 (average stat)
anti tank cannons average less!
this is definitely being considered by marc and the others as 5.09 doesn't show the blade maker and the weapons on the chart are toned down.

pg 211 5.09 has a chart of weapons damages...
animal attack body weapons are pen = C1 - might be an argument for this but...

Blades appear to cap at Pen =2 + other damage types, unfortunately it applies to short blades mostly.
GBK (great big knife) and BK(big knife) are the offenders... Knives are much scarier on this page than most long blades and medium blades...
they are cut2 pen 2

see Saber @cut2 or even Axe at cut3 with no pen.

I have no issues with the SPACE AXE! having Pen 2 and Cut2
SPACE ORC HO!

I've always felt that they had to be in points or the strength die number for the race. Even if they're in points you have to decide how to distribute them. 12 points off one stat is a pretty powerful attack.

Indeed, most melee weapons should probably have a limit as to how much of a strength bonus they can recieve. However, the strength of the user can make a huge difference in how much damage an edged weapon can do. For example, a Bowie knife in the hands of a weakling can give you a very nasty cut or stab, but in the hands of a strong man it can split your rib cage open from throat to diaphram.

Perhaps limiting the bonus to doubling the raw damage roll would work best. This would mean that strength makes any hit worse but does not result in every hit doing the doing nearly the same damage.
