Will "Behind the Claw" ever see a reprint?

I'm pretty familiar with the Spinward Marches, as we all are from CT, but I'm still curious to read what the GURPs have added.

Looking for a copy? I can keep an eye out for you, if you are. Even if it's not selling at a shop, it might be selling in the dealer's room at a gaming convention or something.

Thanks guys. I'll opt for the PDF anyday. I don't need the book, I just want to read the contents. Thanks again :)

last quotes of Marc on canon exclude GT in entirety.

Canon is CT, MT, TNE, T4; T5 will be. MGT might be.

This isn't an absolute. We've had several discussions on this, and the best answer is that where BtC contradicts previous canon, odds are that previous canon still stands. But from the very recent discussions I've had with Marc on this, there is no absolute exclusion.

But let's face it, in your home games, go with what is the most fun or interesting. If you like an idea presented in BtC, use it.

It's not like the Canon Police are going to arrest you.

That's right, they've recently declared an amnesty. Switch to pure unadulterated canon before March 31 and they'll let you off without so much as a warning.

Well, the reason I asked is that I wrote some fiction a couple years back that I was going to pass onto Hunter or MJD. I was setting it in the Sword Worlds, and had the SW set up a certain way. Then I read in GT Claw how they're Germanic-Icelandic types that squabble and fight with one another, and didn't even speak Ganglic :oo:

Well, none of the details really clashed with the story, but they added flavor that, for me at least, seemed more specific than most GMs and Players would expect.

I had the Sword Worlds as being this Terran/Imperial spinoff as per the CT canon, with some unique technology and force structure to counter balance the Imps. I had never thought to sprinkle in culture flavor. It's a good think I didn't describe them as ... oh... I dunno ... Iriquois that settled with Macedonians and South Sea Islanders in three bulk freighters two-thousand years ago, or something :D

I bought it strictly to get some ideas and a different take on the arena we all know so well.

Thanks :)

If you really want information about the Sword Worlds, I highly reccommend GT:Sword Worlds, written by Paul Drye, Robert Prior, and yours truly. Ooddles of history, writeups and maps of every Sword World and every Border World, library data, hardware, and career information for character development.

Tangentially, what other cultural/national Terraisms are there in the TU?

Nomads of the World Ocean comes to mind, which is a rather exquisite mix of the Greek Mediterranean and Dune. I like the idea of Alexis Sorbas commandeering a high-tech trimaran.

GT: Sworld Worlds is pretty good. If you're running any Traveller system campaign set in the Spinward Marches I'd recommend getting it. It doesn't have a lot of GURPS stats like most of the GURPS Traveller books.

Well, I gave MJD and his partner a reworked sample of the fiction I sent him a couple months back. It doesn't look hopeful, largely because they've got their eyes set on things other than fiction.

A few years back Hunter advised me that if I could write fiction, then I could write an adventure. I thought about it... and even thought about it for MJD's outfit, but we'll see.

I can always coble something together in terms of a world setting, maybe set it in the SW, then pass it on to Hunter.

I dunno.... just rambling now :)

The men are arrogant, drunken bastards, the lot of them... but their women are fierce, passionate and unforgiving. Every Sword Worlder looks at death as an opportunity to have themselves be the hero of the next national saga.

As a referee, simply run every Sword Worlder as an NPC who dreams of getting an in-game name mention and becoming a PC. As a player, if the referee says your 52-year old Imperial Navy officer PC is making a stop in the Sword Worlds, take off your uniform, get sick, and stay on the ship for the week in port.

Admittedly, getting off ship in uniform is likely to set off an adventure, but the likelihood of you surviving with your honor, virtue, or body parts intact drop significantly.

The Sword Worlds: You Were Warned. Blame Hans.
