• Welcome to the new COTI server. We've moved the Citizens to a new server. Please let us know in the COTI Website issue forum if you find any problems.
  • We, the systems administration staff, apologize for this unexpected outage of the boards. We have resolved the root cause of the problem and there should be no further disruptions.

As Above So Below - Yet another Traveller System Generator

Wow, this thing is... disciplined. I really like the way the agent instructions are written.

LLMs are probabilistic. Traveller is not.

New update. v0.5.4.

I added:
- Travel Times, including an optional system for including Stellar Masking
- Filtering window including the ability to customize colors

Do you have an option for a pencil & paper system generator?

All joking aside, I am really impressed with your system, and as you can see, kind of old school when it comes to generating systems. The video walkthrough gave me goosebumps, really! Plus, I've entertained the idea of creating a system first and choosing the best planet for the Main World second. It just sounds crazy doing it by hand.

If/When I ever improve my tech, I'll add this to my tools.

Thank you Bookwyrm. If you have any tech larger than a phone this will work. It should work on a tablet/pc/mac whatever. Right now the phone screens are just too small.

Can I add, I only now noticed you had a quote from Hans in your sig. That is very cool.

I don't agree with everything almost everyone on CotI posts, but I do have respect for what is shared. I've learned a lot, and not just about Traveller.

The same goes for Rancke. But I really liked how he shared his views & ideas and I took his 'It Has To Make Sense' to heart. It doesn't work for everything, but it gives me a place to start.

I really miss him and the others who have passed away, and appreciate being able to read their thoughts on Traveller on the older CotI content. Having new citizens joining CotI and new content for Traveller being added by Mongoose & others makes me think the baton has been passed on to the next generation. Looking forward to the years to come, and I can't wait to see what happens for Travellers 50th anniversary.

I added some more filter rules and fixed some bugs i had introduced earlier in the day.

Now you can have up to three colors applied to each world dot on the map.

You can, optionally, set different colors for the left side, right side and perimeter of each filtered world dot.

not working for me; I get the splash with shortcuts and it just sits there. Mac OSX 26.4, Chrome ARM64 146.0.7680.154

I am liking this thus far (PC, Win-10 Opera -64) appears to be working well as a sweet auto generator (CT, Mon, T-5) all appear to be operational have not dug to the bottom but appears to be working so far. Will try on my android tablet tomorrow after it charges and see if it works well there.

OK some updates. Yesterday afternoon I made a filter update (v0.5.7). Special thanks to @Spinward Flow who spent a ton of time pushing the app to the limits and providing me reports and suggestions. He persuaded me to change the color filter rules to allow more than two colors. So now if you have a planet that is impacted by three rules the dot will be split into three colors.

This morning I added a patch (v0.5.7.1) that does the following:
1) The rules window now expands to the right allowing you to both see and change both at the same time without switching
2) The Settings option (gear in the top right) will allow you to set a new default color for the worlds
3) When you load a sector any current rules (including the default ones) will apply immediately
4) You can now add underline, italics or ALLCAPS to world names based on your filter rules

Next Up:
1) I had a report from a friendly user who noted some unusual results in the T5 Tech Level. I will spend some time investigating that.
2) The colors and rules work well for world dots, but I do need to explore how to handle asteroid symbols
3) Allegiances! I have done nothing on allegiances. I will add those and I have always wanted to be able to just select some hexes and mass apply allegiances to them. And provide a configurable view that will let you turn on a mask that shades hexes certain colors for certain allegiances.

More to come in fits and starts. Thank you to everyone who has tried it.

Feel free to try the app and please continue to provide feedback and suggestions here. Please remember it is still in development so it has mistakes and will change.
