Annual maintenance in Hard Times

A question for some ideas on how a starship undergoes it's annual maintenance in Hard times outside a Safe area.

Suppose the PC's are puttering about in their TL-15 Beowulf and 'that time of year' comes again, so they pull into the Medora class A starport and make a booking to get serviced. The catch is though due to 'Hard Times' Medora is only tech 11. So what happens?

Does the starport say - "Sorry, can't help you", and the ship has to wander up to a frontier/safe area with TL-15 parts? Can the starport scavenge parts from wrecks or fabricate their own (for a lot of crImps of course)? Or the PC's have to BYO components?

Or is the annual maintenance more of a recalibration/tune up rather than a major overhaul of parts. "Yeah, we re-tuned the J-drive, got rid of the quench points the the PP superconductors, certified the hull integrity and washed the fuzzy dice"?

I seem to recall some rules for the crew doing repairs and maintenance themselves, in the wilds without access to proper facilities, and even using scavenged and/or jury rigged parts. I don't think we made them up ourselves but I can't recall where they were. Maybe a Challenge issue?
