Looking at the names of Andromeda ships, I get the feeling these are pretty like Imperial Navy ship names?

Well they aren't all Glorious Heritage class Cruisers. (Like the Andromeda.) I don't recall all of them but they do have some interesting combinations. My personal favorite is Continuation of Politics though I think Continuation of Diplomacy is a more appropiate name.
 
The series inspired my Solomani dreadnoughts known as the "Ultimate Victory" class, which included such names as Ultimate Victory, High Justice, Inspired Vengeance etc.

I am President of the Attican Republic - and we are waaay outbuilding all of the other Dominions in the Confederation.
So we get to Name the Ships we Build anyway.
I will see about Building a Class of BBs with these Names.

The Defence Minister of The Phoenix Confederation is gonna have appoplexy when he sees we have Built Ships with these Names - Or even earlier. Attican Tradition is to Name Ships on Keel Laying.
Sorry, but it will not be his style at all.

I really loved the "Truth and Reconciliation" as a ship name. I use it for my Inquistiors ship in my warhammer 40,000 games.

I have Copied ALL of these Ship Names into my "Names" Word Document.

However - I am gonna have to sort through it quite a bit.

In my "krissyverse" we already have Ships with a few of these Names.
Some are already used as Planetary or Colony Names.
Some are already used as Base / Shipyard Names.

We have lots of Shipyards on Asteroids, Moons or as Orbital Shipyards - for the larger Ships.
All of our Shipyards get named.

As do our Planets, Cities, even Continents in some cases.
Some are damn obscure though - Attica has "Official Second Languages" for its Colonies - comprising "Syntactic Greek", Spanish, "Syntactic Latin", and Icelandic ( really ).
Some new ones may get Japanese or Chinese - not decided yet.

I wish I could get some Cheap or even Free Software - to make it easy to design Starships ( Warships ), which are of a number of Standard Types.

I am gonna buy the full verson of Univers Sandbox to do the Star Systems / Planetary Systems - not sure if it will let me model our part of the Galaxy as I need to do it.
 
I've used the subject lines from spam I've received for ship names; at one point, one spamgang sent out stuff with two or three random words as the subject, and some of the better ones made it into a (sadly now lost) file of possible ship names, mostly for free traders... Some that I remember:

Lumbering Meropidae
Jeffersonian Chessplayer
Postprandial Perambulation
Farcical Benevolent Septuagint

... and the ultimate winner from that list...

for a bit of a chinese feel, just use the ship "all under heaven". it's a chinese phrase (wiki tells me it's written as "Tianxia" using the latin alphabet.), that is used to refer to cultural entity of "China", independant of political borders or devisions (e.g. the PRC vs the taiwanese goverment). it's sort of like talking about "europe" and "european values".
