An Idea for High Guard

In another thread, a sensors on at that, the idea occurred for the Fighters/Escorts issues in Book5.

Consider this take the square root of all computer ratings the ships attacking a single target, and the target and any of its screening ships computers and use that as the computer mod.

What I do is add all the computer ratings of screening ships and apply them as DMs to hit targets behind them. Fighters can therefore have a role as effectively EW swarms and have to be cleared out. Thats in the context of maneuver and only covering a 10000 km 60 degree arc of incoming.

These seems more like allowing a lower rating but higher number of ships/small craft to go toe to toe with higher tech. Correct?
