Cepheus does a roll/3, keep/2. It's fun but a bit heroic. With my Silhouette hack, there are eight characteristics. The original incarnation had the characteristics point-buy. But I've been monkeying around with Trav Characteristic generation (random) and then converting it to Silhouette (basically the DM is the stat). But I liked the Cepheus remedy for random numbers so I added a rule that a player can re-roll 4 dice (out of 8 characteristics), only re-roll per characteristic.
