Zhodani Core expeditions and Longbow

Anyone know what the Core expeditions consisted of in terms of ships/fleet org? Also it appears that the crew would be really, really old by the time they returned. Also Longbow any info other than the Traveller Wiki?

THe core expeditions are more a constant shuffling of colonies further and further, to support the fleets, if one looks at it on the Travellermap.com listing for it. It would take years to go from one end to the other at reasonable speeds. It's taken the Zho's several hundred... it's essentially beyond the reach of the Zhodani central government, but is a series of semi-autonomous Zhodani colonial states which remain zhodani only by virtue of the cultural stability inherent in their system, and a system of sharing cultural norms both ways.

And if the core expeditions find something, I assume that they have a way to get the data quickly back to Zhodane? Also I would suspect that it uses J6 couriers as much as possible.

Quick is a relative term - think how long it takes the Scouts to process information on Reference. Certainly quick as galactic polities goes is no where as quick as the crystal tells them.
