Worldgen: Atmosphere Effects

There is an extra column in the Atmosphere table on page 433 in the World generation charts. It's called Effects, and it is filled with codes like S3 and C2 that are unexplained and don't seem to correlate with any other attributes I can find. Does anyone know what that column means?

P = poison
