World generation - corrections, errata, and other help

Don, can you explain what was so anomalous in the Solomani Rim data, and how the fix was applied? Was it overall population totals? Number and/or distribution of high pop worlds? Were UWP codes and/or pop multipliers tweaked?

If you've seen any economic analysis using the data, the Solomani Rim sector was ALWAYS larger than any two other sectors combined. We did an analysis of the sector, identified the elements changed, then ran some tests on other sectors to see impacts.

In the meantime, Marc reviewed the various sectors and made some decisions about how he wanted the Imperium to look. We then combined all of that, and the now updated data at travellermap.com reflects those changes. Some of all the elements you mention were considered. We continue to take comments on the changes. Once we've reviewed our analysis and all the comments, we'll provide details of all the changes so referees can make similar changes to their universes when they consider it necessary. I cannot give the specifics yet (Marc wants that in a future product), but if you look at the data, you'll see how we did it.

So did most of the big changes to the Rim data occur in earlier iterations of the T5 datasets? It looks like there aren't significant changes to the UWPs between this data and the next-most-recent. Looks like Laputa's TL got adjusted, but everything else seems to be the same.

The changes to the Rim data were done in CT Supplement 10. They have been around forever. It's balancing the other sectors against Solomani Rim which Marc recently approved.

We specifically did NOT reduce the Rim; we raised other sectors to it.

That explains everything, thanks.
