Who is here?

This is an interesting thought. Who actually comes here? Are any of us Really Important People whose name everyone recognizes? Who might I have talked to without knowing?

Not sure what you mean by this. Avery is Marc Miller. LKW is Loren Wiseman. Dave Nielson's callsign is - I dunno, but he is on coti. Are you referring to these ancients? Or other people on Coti?

Joe Fugate has also posted on CotI.

"thrash" is "Chris Thrash", co-author on GT:Far Trader & GT:Starships. You'll want to see his excellent website at: Christopher Thrash

Hans is definitely an "ancient". Plus there are several others. If you read a lot you'll pick up on who they are.

And that is very interesting
For that matter I have also talked to Paul Drye. Or rather recieved a reply from him. But I was mainly refering to people of general fame. You know how you can get a sneaking wonder if you've ever talked to Bill Gates?

Oh, I see what you mean. Like walking into a restaurant and seeing Michael Jordan having dinner. Interesting. I've never thought of that - but I guess that could happen anywhere on the Internet. In a passing chatroom, you could be sitting there talking to some famous model or actress. Or you could just pretend you are... Hmmmm....

[that would have worked better if I could have virtually simulated Homer Simpson's voice]

Sorry for the digression. But yeah, what if some famous person has the same interest as you? It's like running into a famous baseball player or singer at the Mall or something. Just don't be all starstruck if you do - they are people just like you and I. And I hear Denise Richards is going to be single again... uhhh... Denise... Rich...ards... [Sorry Homer just pops out every once in a while. Just one of my multiple personalities.]

Yeah, I just woke up and haven't have my caffine yet today...

[looks at his Ancients badge]

What's funny, and ironic is that when I started playing Traveller, years and years ago...I never would have thought I'd become and Ancient and actually have the opportunity to be involved in the OTU.

It still stuns me into quiet appreciation when I really think about it.

And as Hunter lieks to say..."for all those who came before, you are the reason we are here..."

Heh ain't that the truth! Last thing in the world I expected back in the days we used to game in Houston was to end up publishing Traveller material!

Has anyone surveyed the big names in the SF writing gig to see how many actively play(ed) Traveller? This could make a nice 30 anniversary book. [big HINT]

Well, Science Fiction authors do have their own professional organizations. First, see if they have e-newsletter announcing our intentions and see who will come forward. Two, establish an email contact. Third, ask them how Traveller had or continues to have an impact upon their work. Lastly, if Marc gets fan mail or people seeking permission like Swycaffer comes to mind...utilize those contacts. Plus, if publishers like BAEN may wish to participate, as didn't they publish the T4 novel...

Now, if we could only get a hold of Paul Brunette...

I was out for a few days, but I'm back now.

Man, I think I'd've preferred to stay at the Hilton...

I guess i qualify for an Ancients badge myself,
as i started my traveller campaigns immediately when the LBBS came out and i still remember the awe of the merc book with the load of skills per term (Or so it seemed at the time).
During my peak gaming period i had 15 games in 2 weeks either running or playing in,some were C&S, some Were RuneQuest, Some were D&D some were Champions ,oh and one extra the 15th was miniatures wargaming and 5 of them were traveller games 3 of them i ran and 2 of them i played in .
And i remember meeting "The Marc Miller" at origins and running traveller games there too as well as D&D .
Ah the days in my middle to late 20s when gaming from 6Pm to 2Pm was common and 6PM to 5AM was possible without feeling like death warmed over the next day .
Now its all i can do to run or be in 2 games a week .

I know kinda weird quoting oneself. But, I was wondering if anyone is interested in buying such a product. First, as PDF (if Hunter can distribute it through this site) then as a deadtree. I don't have any problems doing much of the legwork involved.

Interested parties or people who know people may want to special message me with their suggestions on how to proceed.

The last time, I attempted something like this was for 25th anniversary but nothing came out of it. But, if there is interest...I will persue it.
