which Forum to find T5 versions of "classic" sophonts?

Ref00000

SOC-12
any assistance appreciated.
tooling up T5.
looking to meet new friends, as well. please PM Me, freely.
thanks to all in advance.
Ref Zero.

I'm not sure how much work anyone has done on converting sophonts for T5 but I would think that any discussions about it would probably best be done on the Traveller5 forum.

yeah, found those

after I posted the thread.
joys of insomnia, and efficient friends, I have the card.
It seems they use "Charisma" for C6, have "Manipulate" as a Talent.
What's interesting is I am very very convinced I read {in one of the "New Era" novels} that they do the healing coma like the Hibernate Talent describes.
Well, in any case, I had definitely not known to give them 'Lek' senses.
which will be a very interesting task to moderate.
I guess I have my answer, but I'm loathe to give up the conversation the thread potentially represents.

All right then. Can anyone envision and describe Hiver Charisma for me then? With the Vargr I can see it, they act a lot like dogs do, just with more actual words thrown in (heck some humans act like that sometimes). But the Hivers, being both silent (and therefore not big with the shouting) and disliking personal combat (harder to imply or threaten danger), obviously they must do it quite differently. So how then? Better manipulation? (Could lead to trust issues.) More emphatic gesticulation? (Could look funny.) More subtle, less violent threats? ("I'll ruin your name, and your company!")

Man, I need to track down some alien modules and get reading.

CT-CD has all 8 CT alien modules...

First of all, Charisma is not equivalent to extroversion. Yes, there is often a correlation, but they are in fact separate traits. The charismatic person is the one who influences people most strongly, not the one who is necessarily at the center of attention.

I imagine Hiver interaction to be a lot like continual job interviews—the Hiver talks up its abilities and accomplishments in order to increase its chances to shake hands with someone whose abilities and accomplishments it admires and would like to learn about. A Hiver's ability to sell itself (Charisma) is what gains it access to other important Hivers, who are likely to also be charismatic because that is how you rise to the top in society.

I have this image in my head, now, that living on a Hiver world would be like living on a planet the entire population of which are second hand car salesmen ... except they're all mute and use sign language.

"Yes, yes I see you... and stop wiggling that thing at me!"

Thank you, Aramis

no dis to Mod and all, but I'll retrieve my hard copies of those from NYC, soon enough.
I own pretty much everything for the game, and unlike a lot of older players, no-one threw mine away, no disaster took them.
I just don't have access to my Library and I'm trying to support the new version.
but thanks for the sales pitch and all. love that.
Given that I've worked in FLGSs off and on for 20 years, I've put more than my share of mine and other people's credits at Mr. Miller and {various} companies disposal over that time. The recent full price purchase of T5 is more than enough considering I'm presently unemployed and moving cross country.
{where are my 75 Credits, by the way?}

funny thing about Hivers

always my least used, least favorite Major Race.
In 6 different Universes, and I don't know how many players, not one single person has asked to play one. I have almost never had one appear on the main stage, where PCs can see them- shy of combat and all, and ALL my PC groups end up in combat, often.
for some reason.
ahem. In ANY case, I'm setting up this time, and my GF, a gaming novice, locks on like a heat-seeker to playing one.
so, in the words of the Bounty Hunter Jubal Early {Firefly;e14-Objects in Space} "Well. Here I am."

Better that than being a carnivore on a planet the K'Kree want.

too true, my friend

hey, how do you sabotage a long term negotiation with K'kree?
DMSO and gravy in the lead speaker's shoe insoles.
just sayin' is all.

and on a side note...
Forward The Dynochrome Brigade, indeed
anyone done a BOLO with Vehicle Maker, yet?

Been trying to but havent succeded yet. Having to create every single weapon on a Mark XXXIII from scratch is a pain.

which Forum to find T5 versions of "classic" ALIENS?

yes, Researcher. that is the query. As I found my answer, we're kind of just maundering. got any input?
like, "hivers def. has Hibernate!"
or "I adjudicate Mag sense like so, {X}. This gives my players the ability to..."
Thanks for dropping in, btw.

y'know what, buddy? Let's use your room for this party.
friend me if you like, you seem like just the sort of contentious MF I like to keep conversations interesting, but not the one I'd have over for a quiet meal.
