Where can I find a list of open Traveller Grip games?

Gosh, does anyone still use Grip?

Hey I remember when there were 25 or so listed games at anyone time.

Is there a list of the Traveller grip games out there anywhere!

Pleeeze? Hunter?

Anyone help?

ACK,

A little googling revealed the following page you might want to check out:

http://www.rpgrealms.com/cgi-bin/GameDB/GRIPgames.pl?gamesystem=Traveller&skin=trav

It requires you to enter your COTI username and password, but otherwise, it should help you find something. There are seven games listed currently, two with openings.

Hope this helps,
Flynn
Thanks Flynn.

If my own campaign with a few friends fall apart I might try joining up with the two that have open slots.

I was hoping that would help. Never have tried eGames, other than PBeMs, of course, so I don't have any experience with GRIP, et al. I'd be interested in hearing about your experiences.

Thanks,
Flynn

I looked into various online game types when a local group was planning to play with some friends and family not nearby. That game never materialized.

Grip looked good if you want maps, character sheets, and some other tools built in and all in one application. However I don't use formal maps for T20 online, have character sheets and such in other formats already, and don't mind having a lot of programs open at once.

The Recuriting Office section of CotI usually has some openings for online games. The one I'm helping with, Starship Endeavor, is currently full at the mo. EDIT: We use IRC for the game.

In general I've found online play, either by pbem or chat to emphasize roleplay more as dice rolls tend to break the flow of the game more than in face to face. Combat can be the slowest part of the game but Traveller isn't just about combat and Traveller combat is usually very deadly and over quicky.

I have done Grip before with John, Bruce and Hunter.

Honestly, it was a helluva a lot of fun. My problem is that I am a dad with a full-time job. Getting together face-to-face is problematic.

I have also tried out AIM chat's dice rolling capabilities and it kind of rocks since it defaults to 2D6. ;)

Grip was nice for the maps and the character sheets. Still, you have to ask yourself as a DM if its really worth it to you.

For some people they will say yes and others will go out and buy more re-prints.

Role-play over chat can be a bit slower in some ways. But it also kind of gives you that detachment that helps in some ways to stay in character.

I am really into the role-play of the thing. So, I think it can be quite nice.

Honestly, I thought it would suck nuts.

Instead I found it engrossing and in some ways less distracting than face to face role-playing where a conversation out of character on some house-hold topic can ruin the mood of the game for about an hour or so.
