Just wondering how spread out we all are. Where do we live these days? Tell us below where you live but also vote in the poll so we can get an idea of where everyone lives.

And I live in New Jersey, near Trenton.

You put Texas in the Southwest, where it is located !

Thank you !

Oh, I'm currently in Alabama.

Chicago Lawn neighborhood, Chicago. We only had five shootings that I could hear in October. It's more stabby stabby here. We're old fashioned.

In northeastern Illinois, about 3 miles from Lake Michigan, roughly an hour to downtown Milwaukee and an hour and a half to downtown Chicago. Grew up in the south suburbs (Dolton) and spent my Army time in Alaska. We loved Alaska and regretted having to leave it.

Texas, like Alaska, is its own region unto itself. Culturally, politically, economically...

I'm now in Oregon. Pacific Northwest. Lived in Alaska 45 years. Still can't get used to the cultural differences. (Many of which are pit topics.)

Putting Alaska in the PNW is culturally insensitive. About half of Alaskans hate Oregon, Washington, and Northern California, and the culture and politics are totally alien. The only thing shared culturally is the 9th circuit court...

Likewise, Hawaii is nowhere near the Pacific Northwest - it's closer to Guam and American Samoa than any state, both culturally, and socially.

By the way, I corrected a few postal codes. AZ instead of AX, AK instead of AL (unless you think ALamaba is in the PNW).

Further, Alaska and Hawaii are, like the Territories, not readily accessible to the others in the clade you picked for them.
Hell, Anchorage is culturally alien to most of the rest of Alaska, and is right about three–sevenths of the state...
The games popular in Alaska are much wider than the ones popular in the Tri-valleys area of Orgeon (Corvallis, Philomath, Albany, Jefferson, Sweethome).

Note: I, personally, am offended by putting Alaska in the PNW, and lived there 45 years. And am currently living in the PNW. I still carry an Alaska DL, and still have a home of record in Alaska.

California is on that list as well, as we all know California is it's own state of mind.

I have found most of the people from the East don't get the regional differences of the West. Nore the internal feelings, I have a whole bunch of relatives across the American Southwest who would gut you if you tried to lump them in with Texans.

Yup. And not a few Texans, as well. Texas is closer to the SW than to the SE, culturally... but many don't approve of that comparison.

Pretty much, a lot of people have very wrong ideas about the US west of the Mississippi...

Northern Shenandoah Valley, but not Northern Virginia. As so many have pointed out, regional differences and all that.
