What's this?

A great near-future military novel series by John Ringo from Baen Books!

From the Aldenata page:
First Contact has been made, and the aliens need our help! The Posleen have invaded the worlds of the Galactic Federation, and have literally eaten their way through anything the GalFed has so far thrown up against them. Humans, with their penchant for warfare seem to be the solution to their problems. In return for advanced technology, Earth and its military personnel are to take the war to the Posleen. And they had better do it fast for Earth is the next planet in the Posleen's path of destruction!
Here are the current books in the series:

I am willing to help you out

What's this ? A question mark or a question depending on view point

What's going on? You are asking questions

Who are these people? Normally they are called human beings

And what is this series about? Not sure since you have not given it an obvious title

Oh, that. I've actually read that, without knowing that it was the Legacy of the Aldenata. I just thought it was "the Posleen series..."

Now I'm gonna duck, so all the thrown rotten food passes overhead.

And here is the first book (A Hymn Before Battle) in the series online for free. Choice of five formats to download or html version online. Likely on those Baen cds that are in some of Baen's recent hardcovers and are freely distributable.

<Asu readies a basket full of eggs with another full of Hiver Plushies handy>

I borrowed the first two from a local library, so I know what's going on. Now it's just a matter of waiting until the last one comes out in paperback, and until the RPG comes out. So hurry up, hunter!

(Jame readies a whole bunch of soft, mushy apples, plus pancakes soaked in syrup. He prepares to throw the latter at Asu, and any help she may be receiving...)

I have read all four, and I thought they were seriously great. My teen son does too. Let me know if you need outside eyes to look over your stuff, nice people at QLI.

[Asu mode]
!! Pancakes! YUMMERS- but not wif mushy ole' icky apples!

<Asu juggles then throws the eggs at Jame in a wide-dispersal pattern causing him to dodge and swerve right into the path of a stream of Hiver plushies. Result? K.O. via Hiver Plush DOOM>

\^o^/

<Asu flips off the stage artistic integrity secured>
[/Asu mode]

As for the free Baen library link that was for folk who want to try out the books but don't want to pay $$ just to see if they'll like it or not.

Once Jame goes unconcious, the pancakes and apples - coreless, naturally - come at Asu from all sides and splatter all over her. Jame wakes up just as they impact, and then runs. His guard bots manage to get in front of Asu, and warn her off from zapping him or worse. Jame uses his comm to say "We're even, so I won't unless you try."

Um no idea how pancakes and apples move on their own *and* hit a dodging acrobat or how one wakes up so fast after being knocked out by (modified) Hiver Plushes o' DOOM or how guard bots get in front of a tiny Chinese acrobat with mad flipping skillz and scooting fast. But in the interests of trying not to further derail

this thread...

/me shrugs

<Asu activates the insta-clean button on her smart fabric fun suit and all the icky stuff falls off. She twirls, bows and departs.>

Simple, it was set up on a stealthed grav platform which monitored my physical health (as opposed to my mental health, which would give any normal person headaches). And I had a drug which revived me.

Jame orders his bots to stand their ground until Asu has left. Then he orders them to join him and leave, permitting the thread to resume its normal course.

Well if you are waiting for the last one to come out in paperback you will be waiting a GOOD long time.

There are currently three books slated for that universe coming out later this year and next year, by other authors. Sometime within the next two years John Ringo will hopefully start on the next full installment under his name, which deals with the overthrow of the Darhel, and then eventually onto a third series set a thousand years in the future.

Folks, keep the off-topic stuff in Random Static. It makes it difficult to follow a thread when stuff like that is randomly thrown in.

The first one "The Hero" is already out. In hardcover. I haven't snatched that one up yet.
My reading queue is already a couple of books deep and I'm waiting for the next book in the "There will be Dragons" series that will be hitting the stores in few weeks.
