What's on the holo tonight?

"Hey Barkeep, switch the holo to the historical archives channel, says here they have a rerun of an ancient Terran show about tanks might be interesting."

Coming up in about an hour here, check your local listings. It repeats on the 23rd too. TLC (The Learning Channel) is running an episode of Extreme Machines featuring tanks and U.S. Future Combat System. If its the episode I remember its pretty neat, especially the prototype ultra-light tank using carbon fibre armor. Which can help answer a T20 question elsewhere about how the design system can justify such underweight tanks

How about an advanced version of Battle Bots? Home made remote controled driods going at it with Fusion Guns. :D

I just watched "Walking with Cavemen" on the Discovery Channel. Good stuff. Low intel/wis types can make good hunters.

Many players forget that a stone tipped spear can kill you just as dead as a laser rifle.

It's all about Junkyard Wars...

Imagine the Far Future version..
The teams build hovertanks with gauss guns for battle out of nothing but the stuff in the scrapheap...
:D

(Tonight's was paintball gun 'tanks')

Speaking of tanks (a subject near and dear to an ex-M1 Abrams gunner), there was this kickbutt show on The Learning Channel last night about tracks....

Some less-than-clever tank collector took his street legal M48 Patton out for a drive down the freeway in LA and somebody damn near hit him head on!

(Dude! Poor tactical choice! Don't you know the guy with the HiVel 90mm has right of way? ) Anyway, so George Patton v 2.0 swerves to miss the knucklehead in the Lexus and took out like 20 meters of concrete lane divider... Funniest thing I've seen since Sean Penn went to Iraq....

Tonite on the Tri-D....
Monster Shipyard...
Jesse James CVII builds outrageous starships in a week with a team of oddball mechanics.
Ships guaranteed to contain a non-standard feature...
Tonite, the boys chop a 100dton scout and add a giant fishing rod/reel to snag asteroids...
:D

Hey! What channel? Can you burn me a crystal of it? This promises to be even more fun than the time they turned a free-trader into a J2 methane burning privateer and dubbed it a FartRaider ;)

Don't forget Trading Spaceships, with the crews of two spaceships swapping ships for a week in Jump Space, during which they renovate the ship to their hearts' content.

Engineer, after misjump: "What did they do to my jump drives?!?! If we ever get back, I'm gonna kill 'em all!"

Which Flintstones and Jetsons are you talking about? The originals or the ones that aired on 'Adult Swim?"

Heads up all.

This topic is starting to drift from my original public service oriented attempt to provide timely notice of programming of interest to Travellers. If it continues to go on in the spoof genre I'll get to see if that little "move topic" button does work and relocate this to Random Static.

I don't mind the spoofs, in fact I participated and its giving me a few chuckles. If someone wants to instead start a dedicated spoof version in Random Static then we get the best of both worlds!

So did I kill my own topic or just spook ya?

Ah well, I goofed tonight, so busy with other stuff I missed alerting everyone to another great bit of programming. It was called "Extreme Universe" though Galaxy might have been a better title. Anyway it discussed the current state of extra-solar planet hunting over the last 15 years or so. Some cool animations and information. It repeats on TLC up here on the 27th.

I should probably point you all to my favorite TV Listing site. Its Zap2it and you can program it for your own local stations, cable, and/or satellite feeds. Its got searchable listings by category and keyword for up to about 2 weeks ahead and tons of other features. Sorry I can't provide a similar link for anyone outside of North America. If you know of one add a link here for your neighbours.

Btw the above program looked like it aired a year or so ago on the BBC so it may be old programming to some of you. The BBC always did seem to get some good science programs ahead of us.

And I miss some of the BBC comedy the CBC used to borrow to run late night night. Who else has seen "Bottom" and is it still running? Good grief I think it was more than a few years ago now so I doubt it. The CBC carried about a season worth and then dropped it. This could quickly degenerate into a topic better suited to Random Static, it often had me laughing so hard I'd nearly blow chunks

but then my sense of humour is a bit warped

naa...
The best thing on TV today was the mega-commercial for The Essential Pink Floyd , although $120 for 8 albums seems a bit high...

Heh, well, not to date myself or anything but all mine are vinyl :D So yes I've been tempted to plunk a wad on this collection just to save me the work of mp3 serching for it all.

....uuuhh....maybe i shouldnt say this but....I went to their FIRST concert!!!!

Trivia question???...when and where was it???? :D

A good thing, yes? I've enjoyed "Conquest" and have liked Peter Woodward since "Crusade".
Hope there's plenty of cutlass work... :D
