What would be a good Sci-Fi RPG Title

Originality is soo overrated in some circles.

How about, "Tourist: Space Gaming in the Distant Hereafter."

I'm reserving, "distanthereafter.com" as my domain name. I'll sell it for a ridiculous sum. Mwahahaha!

There's also, "Ugly Terran: Talking loud to squid-faced wogs in the remote reaches of the galaxy."

"remotereachesofthegalaxy.com"

Wow - I wonder how much experience I already have in that game...

That depends ... the less you do, the more experience you receive.

I'm working out the equipment lists - here's one entry:

Universal Remote (TL7, Cr10, 0.1kg): This device allows the user to control video and audio entertainment equipment without changing the user's physical position. This basic design does not change until TL-11, when a "Mute Spouse" button is offerred as an option. By TL-12, this option becomes a standard feature.

Meanwhile, BACK TO THE THREAD...

It looks like while we were playing around, Hunter settled on SciFi20. Anyway, I assume that was the project he was trying to name.

I still think he should have gone with Tourist: Ugly Americans in the Way Out There. Ah well.

Heh there were some really good ones tossed out here, but SciFi20 I think covers it best. It ties it back to T20 to a degree and is fairly generic in scope.

A lot of science fiction fhans hate the term "scifi", and given the crapfest that the sci fi channel is that doesn't help either.

SF20 might be better.

"Some people wonder why truefhans hate the term Scifi".
Well, you see, there's a fine line
between Heinlein
and "Son of the two headed fly." "

Hey if someone wants to run 'Son of the two headed fly' with these rules, I got no problem with it. :p

And Trekkies want to be called Trekkers too...doesn't mean anyone really listens to em...

Seriously though, the SciFi broohaha is silly to me. It's a damn abbreviation for Science Fiction. We all know it when we see the letters. If someone doesn't want to buy the game because it has the title SciFi in it well...

And yes I have a love/hate relationship with the damn Skiffy channel too ;)

He can call it SciFi20 but pronounce it Skiffy20. That should make everyone happy.:)

I liked "Infinity" for the name of the game, but mainly because it was my suggestion.

Titles,

What genre is it for, it would be easier to fit a name if there was a rough idea.
for example,
Spacehack
and
Hole in the Sky
both conjure very strong image, but are quite obviously very different genres.

How about;
Eternal Frontier
Wandering Star
Rouge Star

To plagerize,
Beyond the Sunset
Outworld
Between the Stars

Rogue Star is a novel by Michael Flynn
Wandering Star is a publisher's imprint.
Eternal Frontier is a book by Tim Flannery

Title

Eternal frontier might be usable because the book is a non fiction work, so there would not be a lot of overlap, and title are not copyright protected, just the work itself.

Titles are OFTEN protected by Trademark. If it's in use for a different product, it's not trademarkable for a new one, and in games, where trademarking titles is ubiquitous, problematic.

There is far more to intellectual property that copyright.

Unless copyrighted for other purposes book titles are rarely copyrighted.

An example is the main used bookstore in my town (Grand Junction, Co.)... Twice upon a Time.

They have on display over 10 different books, all by different authors, in several genres... all with the same identical title as the store!

In Science Fiction, I have seen identical titles from different authors, albeit a decade or two apart.

All that is required is to not use any features or situations unique to the work whose title you are duplicating.
