What' the timetable for T5.1?

Thot

SOC-12
I just recently bought the T5.09 PDF and am contemplating of making me a bound dead tree version in a local copy shop. But of course, should 5.1 hit soon enough, I would want to postpone that. So what is the timetable there?

Sorry, no offense. T5 doesn't do 'timetables'. When it is finished, they announce it. It is a bit of a running joke and a source of occasional frustration.

Just to let you know some background, FFE is more of a "one man show" (not quite that small, but close) than a large company like SJG or Mongoose. So real life things like Marc Miller needing to recover from heart surgery can cause schedules to slide. The 'solution' was to stop promising dates that life made it impossible to deliver on.

Perhaps someone working on it can give you an answer. I would be both happy and surprised to be proven wrong. I just wanted to give you a heads-up on the history of 'announcing dates'.

I would postpone the dead tree unless you really want it. It's heavy.

And I can hear Don McKinney's voice in my head saying:

Don McKinney said:
NO DATES!

Meaning: don't commit to deadlines for which you have not completely and totally planned for.

OK. That said, my fuzzy plan is to get the Player's Handbook out in 2018.

As others have frequently observed, there are dependencies on that project. In particular, significant T5 Core Rules errata against personal combat and character generation.

Sweet! Hopefully there will be a POD version. I like real books (and even better real books that also give you the PDF. Sadly only a few companies do without charging for both). Real books you can pass around the table is a guilt-free pleasure - passing around PDFs is...questionable.

Bad! Bad Robject! NO DATES!

To all members of the forum. Please cut Marc some slack at getting things out. He has just had MAJOR surgery, and right now his priority has to be recovery and gaining his strength and energy back, not trying to crank out more Traveller products. Traveller is 40 years old this year, and Marc was not that precocious to be writing the rules at the age of 1. As you get older, it takes a bit longer to heal, a bit longer to get the energy back, a bit longer to recover from things. If he is anything like me, he is wincing every time he sees a post regarding Traveller 5.1 or Traveller 5 corrections.

Please give him a breather to at least the end of November before asking about product. Let him heal so that he is around another few decades to work on the game.

And that policy totally makes sense.

But it is still good to know that it will take at the very LEAST several months until the next step. :)
