What Kickstarter Swag Title Did You Sign Up For?

If you signed up for a title via your traveller 5 contribution, what did you sign up for? Which rank or which planet?

The Imperial Enquirer's Inquiring Minds want to know!

For a planet, I asked for Spinward Marches 1329 Caladbolg B565776-A. It's in a VERY interesting location and was nicely detailed in Travellers' Digest 16.

A couple actually.

Dear Imperial Enquirer Editor,

I got the Knighthood and the TAS card in my real name and Terra as my HomeWorld being a Terran by birth and for Mags I requested Maelstrom (Deneb 2522) at whatever Rank and Title His Imperial Majesty assigns. For the Wall of Heroes I asked to have Ivor name's inscribed.

And that is what I have requested. Waiting to see what goodies we get for being part of the T5 CD Beta group. If we get Knighthoods for that, I think I will get Mags covered with that. But we'll see how that goes.

Dear Imperial Enquirer Editor,

I got the Knighthood and the TAS card in the name of one of my two favorite Imperial Marines, Charles Martel (pronounced Shahrl Mahrtay), since I already have a knighthood and Barony for my other one Sebastian Markov. I asked that the knighthoodand landgrant be placed on his homeworld of Spinward/1805/Uakye at whatever Rank and Title His Imperial Majesty assigns. For the Wall of Heroes I asked to have my RL name inscribed.

And that is what I have requested. Waiting to see what goodies we get for being part of the T5 CD Beta group. If we get Knighthoods for that, I think I will get myself covered with that to go with my other Barony; but I'm hoping that those of us with previous rank get upgraded.

Laterness,
C. Patric Mitchell,

A couple of planets to avoid!

From Traveller's Digest 9:

The nobles of Cogri are ceremonially blinded upon ascendancy...

The Marquis of Inthe, when not in null-g areas, must wear a delicate powered exoskeleton to counter frailties reportedly due to inbreeding.

Yikes!

I picked the awards for one of my characters, Imaah "Chesty" Chehesti, General of Imperial Marines (ret).

They will be announced several years after her retirement and will blindside her - as they would be totally unexpected - for reasons her bio makes quite clear.

I picked Byret/Mora in the Spinward Marches as it looked to be the best roleplaying setting for her character. (She was the very successful Imperial Commander for pacification forces in a recent insurgency on that planet.)

Lots of folks from all sides of the conflict hate her guts. The insurgents, of course, because she whooped them but good. Quite a few of the once-wealthy and influential locals hate her because she paid pennies on the credit for their startown property - they fell for her strategic deception just like the insurgents did.

The local government will hate her because they already realized that just because she is on the Imperium's side doesn't mean she's on their corporate, bureaucratic, self-serving side. Plus, she made it quite clear last time she was planetside that having to live with their inefficient bureaucratic government might have made her want to revolt, but since she commanded a whole lot of Imperial firepower, she would just accidentally start dumping asteroids on their homes and offices until they cooperated.

About the only group that don't hate her are the Larianz, a minor race native to the planet. That's because all soldiers under her command - including local levies - had to treat the Larianz with complete respect or suffer her personal wrath. (The Larianz were taking no part in the insurgency and Chehesti wanted to keep it that way.)

I find it interesting (and very pleasant) that all the folks on the thread so far preferred the role-playing aspect of picking a planet for the awards rather than picking a higher rank.

I don't know the worlds well enough to have chosen well, so I had my world chosen at random. Unfortunately there wasn't a good place for the name/world of the knighthood for the second book, so I'll have to ask how to add that. I plan on giving that one to a friend for a gift, so I want the knighthood in his name.

The others are in my real name.

I do plan to put the relivent planets in MTU.

As all of these titles are Imperial titles, I don't think I have to worry about ritual blinding. :)

Interesting that you made General. Neither of mine made it higher than Force Commander, in any of their iterations (CT, Mega, New Era, T4, Gurps...) mainly do to their total disregard for the majority of General officers they were placed under. It seems that the Commandant understood that while they couldn't keep certain people from making General due to their connections and hereditary titles, the Commandant could make damned sure that the boots were led well so that missions were accomplished.

After all, if the General has a successful campaign (regardless of how the General gets that success, with the General's active help or in spite of it), said General can be promoted to a more ceremonial position where the pompous so and so can work the lecture and dinner party circuit. Leaving the real work of an Imperial Marine to the professionals. Trouble is, your direct superior writes your OER, and backchannel issues can stop promotions cold, regardless of the patronage of the Commandant.

My titles for Markov came from his work with the 2113th Marine Regiment on Regina and work on Efate. The titles for Martel came from covering the Duchess's retreat from Jewel and the subsequent defense of Jewel campaign. While even the Duchess couldn't get Martel promoted to General, she did appoint him to the Duchess's Own regiment.

I believe unless I am mistaken, that I will have two knighthoods, and a barony My first Knighthood will be done in my son's name, the second in my wife's name. The barony will be in my name (this character) and the TAScard is in my real name, I just dont know how much the high passage every other month will be worth in purchase of Traveller goods as I dont really care to travel, I will just sell my high passages for Credits lol.

(Puts on best Mexican bandito, sorry loyal Solomani Confederation Citizen accent)

"I don't need no stiiinken' Imperial titles"

(and since I only signed up for the CD, don't think I get one anyway)

Here I think you find that you are in fact getting some swag, sir.

In addition, I seem to recall getting an email with yet more details, but I think I am looking in the wrong mail box. Hold on...*electro-rufflings*

Found it, comes from the Traveller 5 Mailing List and it says for those of us that have backed both there are some other options.

So there you have it, you do get a bump to Social-B. :p Now, quit your whining! It is unbecoming of a Knight of the Iridium Throne.

Laterness,
Craig.

I wonder what those of us previously on the Birthday list as Barons are getting...
