What if we want to jump into writing adventures or supplements?

Hello to all!

I am thinking that I would like to try my hand at writing supplemental materials for T5. I know at one point there was talk of a Writer's Guide, I think. What are the legalities and such of doing this commercially?

Any help would be appreciated!

I am starting to look at my shiny new v5.09 PDF, and I am impressed with the changes.

Well, I'll bite. I'm still recovering, but getting better every day.

Drop me an e-mail note; the writer's guide (although there were several proposals to rename that) is still around on my projects pile, but fell to the bottom.

OK, I'll bite.

What kind of writing are you thinking about?

What sort of adventures would you like to write? What sort of supplements are you interested in writing? What turns you onto Traveller?

What level of editing would you need? Is there something you can show as an example of your writing style and how you approach Traveller stuff in particular?

I am doing something like this, at least in my head. The game I'm in is set in a non-canon 300 years port Imperium. Some of the writing I've been doing is to flesh out bits of culture, power struggles, and world stuff. I've even surprised the DM with more information about his own creations!

Sometimes it's iffy, as this sort of writing can lead to bland characters. However, I'm working on adding conflict and strife. What

My goal is to have enough material to bundle with the setting information. That way players could read up and jump in, feeling "at home" in this section of the universe.

Wow! Think I'll just get my feet wet with EPIC system in Core Rules.

That's a good answer. EPIC gives you a lot of framework on which to hang an adventure.

If you come up with something, send an email to Marc and ask about it.

For that matter, if you want to take it a little slower, then come up with an Amber Zone or JTAS-like article and pitch it to Don or me for Imperiallines. Yes, Imperiallines is still alive.

Does this mean that content is being sought out? I would love to submit some material, though I'm sure my mad scribblings would need to be cleaned up a bit.

Are there official submission guidelines, then?

Yeah, you can always submit content for consideration.

Huh. There ought to be guidelines, oughtn't there? Well I know Don has general guidelines for writing anything Travellerish. That's a start.

Hmm. So, ping Don. He loves figuring out guidelines. Sometimes he's painfully sticklery about it.

The biggest thing I can think of is writing. None of us have lots of time to edit writing. I have enough trouble just getting my writing cleaned up. I don't have lots of time to clean up someone else's writing.

There, I said it. Probably not hard-ass enough, but I'm still learning my "job".
