One in MTU worth mentioning is Oud Solaris. It is on Duru Gialt, Sepik Subsector, Glimmerdrift Reaches hex 1937. This is a very exclusive restaurant by invitation only, taking about 20 customers per day. The staff excel at their jobs, pampering the guests. The thing that makes the restaurant exclusive is the staff are psionic, so they know exactly what each guest wants for a meal, and how to serve and pamper them to make their dining experience a once in a lifetime thing.
The food and dining experience is so amazing and unique that those who can afford to travel there do so in hopes of being selected for a dinner invitation. So, if you want to go, do something incredibly amazing to get the invite.

The Waffle House Index is a metric named after the ubiquitous Southern US restaurant chain Waffle House known for its 24-hour, 365-day service.[1] Since this restaurant always remains open (except in extreme circumstances), it has given rise to an informal but useful metric to determine the severity of a storm and the likely scale of assistance required for disaster recovery.[2][3] It was coined by former administrator Craig Fugate of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).[4] The metric is unofficially[2][5] used by FEMA to inform disaster response.[6][7]

After insisting that you just call him “Adam”, he agreed to meet you at a park near the University and his offices. He knew the perfect place to get Beer and Barbeque, but it was a little tricky to find, so it was best to meet at the park and he would lead you.
Adam arrived at the park about 1140 and guided the group DOWN from the Ring One. You discovered that Purvaux had a subterranean “Ring” that served as an industrial complex. Nestled among companies that seemed to manufacture items ranging from medical devices to advanced alloys was the Cork Screw BBQ … a place with a rustic meets industrial vibe that seemed crowded with patrons. The scent of smoked meat filled the place and there was a selection of nearly fifty different Craft beers to select from. Adam suggested the Pulled pork and brisket combo that was the house specialty. When the food arrived (on a compartmental plate on a sheet of brown paper covering a metal tray), Adam thanked the waitress and allowed Mick to pay. While pulled pork had a tendency to be dry and needed lots of sauce to provide flavor, the group was shocked to discover this pork was moist, tender and had an amazing flavor even without any BBQ sauce. As for BBQ sauces, they had about 15 different varieties to select from. The waitress suggested several brews that paired well with your selections … including the option of a “flight” if you wanted to sample several different brews. Adam chose a flight.
“So you said you were interested in some Data Cubes” Adam began as you enjoyed your meal. “I am afraid you have me at a bit of a disadvantage. You see, the Productivity, Innovation and Entrepreneurship Council doesn’t actually DO anything.” Adam explained with a smile. “We are really more like a ‘Pimp”.
With a small chuckle, Adam went on to explain that the function of the Productivity, Innovation and Entrepreneurship Council was to match problems in search of a solution with solutions in search of a problem. Specifically, they maintained a database of Research Proposals and Technical Challenges and attempted to cross match them. “Large corporations and major industries maintain direct research teams and facilities and ongoing programs that seek slow but steady progress that large bureaucracies favor. The Productivity, Innovation and Entrepreneurship Council seeks to identify and support the outlier cases. Radical solutions that no large organization would take a chance on, or niche problems that no large university department would bother to notice. We match small funds with few restrictions to projects that are high-risk, high reward to see if an outlier can produce something that offers dramatic potential. So I need a little more detail on exactly what you are looking for. I have LOTS of data cubes with lots of data … none of which would likely interest you. However, you are probably looking for something that we funded. That I can help with.”

Of course, it could depend on the chef.
In general, the local TAS hostel has a cafeteria (think AAFES style), and a semi-formal dining option (comparable to most Officers' Clubs' dining hall in the evening). These are consistently of good quality, operated at breakeven pricing or just a hair above. What's actually on offer is basically local plus key dishes from anywhere within 4j4.
The Dead Spacer: it's not just a chain of bars; most also have decent food on offer. The cooks will be able to do most anything asked for if it can be made from local supplies, but there can be a wait for anything not routine. Best noted for the Yellow/Grey/Maroon flooring. Always, the grey leads to the bar and the "neutral tables"... Maroon side is Marine Preference; Yellow is Scout Preference. Basically, they aim for any world within 2j2 of a scout, navy, or marine base. High chance they're in the extrality zone at the port when present. Many have scout brew available. IMTU, they're covertly connected with INI, ISIS and INMWRS (Imp. Navy Morale Welfare Recreation Services Command). Yes, it's spying on the troops. Yes, it's crooked. Yes, the food is good. Yes, the adult bevs are safe and quality, albeit local or nearby system. And the INI and ISIS like it that way. Even the often heated Marine-Scout interactions. Almost every location is founded by a member of the IN, IM, or IISS with a loan from INMWRS. And yes, the skeleton in the vacc suit hanging outside over the door is a real one.
Within the Solomani Sphere, both Impie and Solomani, McDonalds still is a going thing... tho' it's been vat-meat for millenia. Usually at the starport and startown.
Astroburger is only in the Domain of Deneb IMTU. (IMTU, it's often spread by loans from the local TAS facility.)
The IN, IM, and COACC bases do have the usual array of officers, Jr Enlisted, NCO, and SNCO clubs, plus open mess facilities.
I've occasionally added subsector and sector lines' facilities having a nice casual dining place at their port facilities; usually 10% off menu if you have an outbound ticket for a scheduled flight within the week, or a stub from an arrival in the last week, from the owning line. These tend to be smallish - 20 tables or so. Their primary purpose is feeding the staff and port-liberty crews, but allowing passengers is just one more way to bilk them for a little extra.
