What does the (Peth) world code indicate?

I know that that format indicates a sophont homeworld, but do not know who the Peth are... Or what the long form of Peth is...

Please help.

It's missing from the sophont code list that's included as part of the data drops DonM sends me, so we'll need Don to chime in here...

I guess I now need to buy a copy of the old Challenge magazine so I can learn the lore...

Awesome. They weren't listed in the latest spreadsheet you sent me, hence my confusion.

Also... I only have Peth on Peolanti in the spreadsheet (and hence on travellermap). Harmless doesn't have that code, so I don't know what other T5SS data is being referenced. Maybe I missed a data drop?

I made a mistake. Harmless is not a Peth world. I've also double-checked this item.
