What's the example a player character is trying to do a check for? Actually, start a new thread on this because we are hyjacking I think.

Ok, while this post is based on some not-so-public knowledge, it represents where I personally plant my OTU flag, and not Marc's (or Rob's) or anyone else's positions...

1. I want a set of core rules without a setting, except where necessary for explanations. T5 is close to that.

Agreed. And, I think that T5 is close enough that the OTU references don't matter.

3. I want a solid set of explanations for manipulating that baseline forward and backwards, based on a cleaned up (reimagined is too strong a word) timeline. When I think of how this should work, I'm thinking of a heavily modified version of Jason Kemp's "Alternate Collapse/Recovery System" from Stellar Reaches #5, but able to move forward and backward from 1105 data to 1248 (and beyond) and backwards to Milleu Zero and Interstellar Wars.

If Jason wrote it, I will probably find a lot to like. I've had my own scribblings about it, but in the end there's only a couple ways to do it.

4. For an OTU book for T5, there's some fan material I would want to include.

5. Other supporting material? I miss the days of HIWG, of Tiffany Star and The Imperium Staple, but that's probably not possible given today's copyright laws.

"Miss the days"? Time has little to do with it. Gather the writers together and you'll have something. And how many people are needed to start something up? Not many -- what's needed is focus and direction for them. And Don, you seem to have that.
