Was H.G. Wells right?

HG Wells is always right.

I read this in the Metro (which is the Mail isn't it?) - prefer to see a proper science bit on this, rather than some hyperbole from the Daily Mail. They don't really have a good track record when it comes to science... ;)

Whole thing reminds me of the pseudo-science of the likes of Philip Rushton and others. A forecast that looks with such large variables never really accounts for what happens when the species expands off planet. A nice counterweight arguement can be found in Brown (unfortunately, I only heard the person on the radio but did not catch his name).

It certainly looks that way...

Middle class squeezed from both ends, technology taking away jobs that used to be done by 'hand' for good wages, an unresponsive electorate except to the loudest special interest...

If H. G. could have imagined cyberpunk, he would have been on. Think Walter Jon Williams for a good example.

Great. Now I have to be on the lookout for Martian Tripods. Everybody start sneezing and hope they take Tom Cruise's whiny daughter before they croak. :D

I gather that Dr. Curry is not an evolutionary biologist despite his posting at Darwin@LSE.

It has some fun implications for Traveller though.

Now, in twenty years... Who knows?

Huh. Well, my voice isn't deeper, nor my "appendage" any more ... how does one put it ... "impressive", nor will I live to be 120 (50, if I'm lucky for all the junk food I've consumed), nor am I an intellectual genius, nor do I have a girl-friend with pert-attributes.

I just don't see it happening. Especially not in a thousand years. Our breed of humans will branch off once again should we ever reach the stars, and the differences may be more startling than realized.

Alik, I think El meant Cruise's daughter in the film. His real-life daughter isn't old enough to be considered whiny, yet. (At this age, it is called "demanding". ;) )
