Wanted: Gateway to the Stars info

Just completed the Dumarest series thanks to the folks here that showed me the way to obtain book #32.

Now I just read Pierce Askegren's 'Gateway to the Stars'. Nice little storyline but I wonder if a sequel ever saw the light of day? Checking around I found the following: " Unfortunately, the series was cancelled by Pocket Books upon the collapse of Imperium Games, publishers of the Traveller role-playing game. Interest in the Traveller universe remains strong, however, as evidenced by the success of GURPS Traveller from Steve Jackson Games, so perhaps these stories will find a new publisher and we'll see more of the mysterious Navis Redling"

Anyone know if another novel was done? I see that the author recently wrote a couple of other sci-fi novels but not the one I am looking for. Anyone?

No other SciFi/Traveller was done because Pierce's work was wrong on so many levels. The main value of this work is that it contained a correction to the T4 rules that some have termed T4.1, a sort of build up toward what Marc was planning with T4.

I would rather see some of the leading lights of BAEN be given an outline of Traveller & how it works and then get the best to write something.

Ever play the TNE adventure Guilded Lilly?

The settlement and characters in that one could be staight out of Firefly.

A Traveller game set in the Darrian/District 268/Five Sisters/Sword Worlds quadrant of the Spinward Marches could well play out a lot like a Firefly setting IMHO.

Using Bookfinder.com, I was able find Gateway to the Stars starting at 0.19$, it is worth that much but not much else. As I said, I think when T4 took a dive much of the energy that went into Traveller also went. Remember, this is pre-GT, so as much as I might not like GURPS, I give Evil Stevie his due for bringing Traveller back to life, as T4 was pretty fatal blow.

In terms of Firefly, I haven't tried it yet but if I were to tweak the system, I think that I would use a T4 milieu and use the whole Alliance as a Pocket Empire with the 3I...far, far away. This way I could limit the use of Jump Drive and use 2nd Imperium military hulks for the Alliance ships.
