Volume Discount for Starship Production

Can someone point me at exactly where in the THB the volume discount for starships is noted?

If it's on p. 278/279 after all, it'll be hair ripping time . . . (I did check the official errata and did search the T20 forums and The Fleet topic).

Chris,

Don't have the book with me, but I can assure you it IS a 20% discount (i.e. = 80% of one-off cost).

Cheers,

Well I just went looking for it and I didn't see it in the design rules but on all the "Standard designs."

I wasn't able to find an exact reference either.

From my interpretation I assumed that it wasn't a mass-production discount exactly.

Vehicles with the standard design marker indicate a ubiquitous vehicle, one that is so common as to be available easily. Every shipyard builds its own variant on the free trader. Most planets capable of doing so build some kind of personal vehicle.

So unless you are building hundreds of thousands of vehicles of a particular type it doesn't seem realy applicable.

Well ... p.279 talks about how you can get a 10% discount for cash up front under "Paying For It All". Otherwise I think it came from the Standard Designs section.

IMO it applies to any design that has/will be mass-built, and refers to the presence of standard parts, known issues etc. The first run (however many that is) of any design should not attract the discount as that is when you find out what can go wrong.

The designs themselves need not be pedestrian however, they can be anything imaginable, so long as they are produced in some quantity (even if not at this starport).

Hmm, there's another change from CT to High Guard/T20 that I'd not noticed.
In CT the standard hulls were cheaper and a "standard design" ship was 90% of list. In High Guard/T20 the discount is 20%...
