Virtual Tabletop

Scarecrow

Came across this on the miniatures page today:

I don't know if you can do space battles with it but you should definately be able to play Striker and Stargrunt/Dirtside. I WILL be making free Traveller miniatures for this (provided it's not a comlete arse to do so) - Probably 3D versions of my paper miniatures - I'm still waiting to have my technical questions answered on their forum

I almost wet my pants when read this. I am currently toying with MapTool from http://RPtool.net

I hope it can run with GM support so units may be hidden until revealed. I'll probably covert to this if the price isn't too steep and there is possible to have GM/player license system like Klooge. Thus my players only need a free client software.

Is that a floating rock by the cliff? Looks like maybe the "click-to-place terrain" feature needs just a little work.

Other than that, if it's got your minis to put in it that'd be cool!

Huh, this is what they mean by virtual tabletop. I was somehow thinking of a flat table with images projected upward as 3D holograms. I guess this is cool as well, but, it would be nothing more a narrative tool for great adventures. Waiting to play Traveller in a paintball arena later this summer. That is more a change in how the game ought to be played.

Well, it's designed for tabletop wargaming rather than roleplaying though if you can have more than two people logged on I don't see why it can't be kludged for roleplaying.
Sure it's not perfect but there's nothing else like it and it is still early in development.

Me, I admire their balls for using GW figures to promote a commercial product!!!!

It did seem to me a bit on the edge to use the space marines as a picture but in the forum its said that they dont make the licensed images.
Does look good and I would be interested in seeing more.
