Vilani Calender

Border Reiver

SOC-14 1K
I'm currently taking part in a Megatraveller mailboard based campaign set in the Lishun sector in the early days of the rebellion and as I am playing a Vilani character I thought it prudent to A. break out my rulebooks and refresh my memory on Megatraveller and B. buff up my knowledge of the Vilani via the most excellent Vilani & Vargr whereupon I noticed some variation in rules for the length of a Vilani day, year etc between V&V and the Ref's Companion. Any other references out there that might clarify. I must admit preferring the 32 hour Vilani day but I'm interested on other views and even how the change came about.

Could it be that two authors didn't compare notes?

Or maybe two versions of the star system that spawned these were generated, and existed independently?

Odd aside:

Terrans apparently tend towards something like a 25 hour day if they go up in space - their rythms adjust slightly from their Earth normal ones. Or so I once read...

Probably the usual dgp/megatraveller balls up but as far as I can make out the Ref's companion only credits MWM, Frank Chadwick, Joe Fugate & Gary L Thomas and no prizes for guessing credits for V&V. Time to hit the Missouri Archive and see what's hidden there.

There's some feedback to a letter in one of the DGP magazines which basically says later works trump earlier.
I'd go with V&V as being the correct version.
