Video: How to conduct personal combat in Traveller5

Excellent tutorial .... thank you ..... I see you have concluded that weapon effects which must penetrate armor are all rolled separately which has been a debate for some time and has yet to have formal clarification as far as I know..... I'm going to try it the same way in my T5 campaign that got off the ground last week and see how it goes ....

Apparently I got the definition of the range bands wrong. When ranges are mentioned throughout the core book I was assuming that was the maximum for that range but actually it's a sort-of average. See the range table on p36 of the core book for actual figures. On the plus side this shouldn't effect anything else in the video.

Also, in other forums I've had some criticism over music volume levels. At some point I will redo the video to correct the range band issue (and anything else you guys find) and I'll try and do a better job with the music then.

Great video Hemidan, thanks for making it. Its a must watch for anybody trying to grasp combat.

The range band concept is that the distance given for the band is the midpoint. The table on p.36 that shows Range Band Width is a really good explanation.

Yes the music tends to drown you out at times but no biggy.

Two thumbs up :)

Even p. 36 gets it wrong. They mentioned 300 m as the bound for Medium Range (4). In fact it should be 325 m if you say that the boundary of a range is halfway over to the average or "typical" range in the next band. Halfway between 150 and 500 m is 325 m.

So: (Dice, range, odds of a Dex-7, 0-skill hitting a standing immobile target with a gun)

1D 0 - 25 m (includes Range 0, Reading, Talking) 97%
2D 25 - 100 m 50%
3D 100 - 325 m 10%
4D 325 - 750 m <1%
5D 750 - 3000 m <1%
6D 3 km - 25 km (not possible without enhanced vision)
7D 25 km - 250 km etc.

Excellent Hemdian. So nice to see a fellow Traveller jumping in and using it instead of bagging it out because it doesn't match there in house rules.

Brilliant, well received and a nice tutorial. I think many fellow Travellers can learn from this. Better still, they might start adopting Traveller 5 combat.
