Well, maybe not...

If I read the COACC table correctly, it takes 30 tons of weight to carry 2 passengers on an airship! That's crazy! A reinforced heavy steel cargo container that's 40 feet long, 8 feet wide and 8 1/2 feet high weighs less than 4 tons. That's for a container that's designed to stand up to storm-tossed ocean waves and handling by longshoremen!

Surely I've misread that!

Looking at my copy, it is 0.30 tons, not 30.0 tons, so 300 kilograms of weight per passenger.

I have the scanned copy on the megatraveller cd, not a paper copy. Turns out the decimal points didn't get scanned...

That does happen. One reason why I like hard copy originals. Against that, they do consume space. My wife keeps talking more and more about a separate library addition to the house.
