vehicle design question

This seemed as good a place as any to ask a question about the vehicle design system. I was attempting to design a suit of battledress, and my problem came when I got the suit finished. I compaired my design to the battledress design in the T20 rulebook.

The battledress design (on page 286) in the rulebook "paid" only 8.4vl and 900Cr for 2 leg drive train.

However, on page 238 under the description of leg drive trains, the book indicates that a leg drive train takes 42vl and costs 4500Cr. For a total of 84vl and 9000Cr for two legs.

So, which one is correct, or did I miss something.

My guess is that the "book" design probably didn;t pay for full eg motors - relying on the wearer to supply a lot of the lift - that should drop the requirements down a fair chunk.

The Book design for the battledress, the leg drivetrain is only 0.2 EP. The Rules imply you can only install Drive trains in whole units. But neither Percy nor the battledress follow that rule. And neither would I in building small vehicles like scooters or motor bikes.

The power plants, OTOH, do have a minimum size.

So feel free to install fractional DTUs in your vehicles.

Note also that the appendage cost of the standard design Battle Dress is off. According to the design rules, the cost should be 20,000 not 51,000.
