Wasn't there an issue of the Onion at one point that talked about geneitically engineered citrus trees that grew rinds filled with meat-tissue instead of fruit? Seems a similiar situation to me.

Actually, I was referring to the belief of some hyper-vegitarians that when you eat beef, you actually ingest 'cow fear' - a combination of hormones and other chemicals that are released by the cow at the time of butchering. It is claimed by some that when cows are about to be slaughtered, they know it, and react with fear, releasing various chemicals into the bloodstream, which are later consumed by the eater.
