UWP library data?

Qstor2

SOC-13
I'm working on developing a subsector from the GtD book for a T20 campaign and was wondering in general in the OTU and IYTU how available would the library data for non Imperial sectors be?

IIRC I read somewhere that the Scout Service might keep some library data for areas like the Zhodani worlds classified so PCs wouldnt have access to it in their computer library data programs.

But the Gateway Domain doesn't have that "large" Imperial villian like the Marches.

thanks!

For the non-aligned areas and minor nations, I suppose that in most starports, UWP data (plus perhaps a little more) would be available for worlds within several jumps - perhaps about a subsector´s worth or so. Characters with access to TAS libraries or with contacts within the Scout Service can probably get more.

Within the Imperium, information is probably easier to come by. It seems reasonable to assume that UWP data for all Imperial worlds, or at least all worlds of that Domain, could be found on most or all Imperial starports.

To me it seems reasonable that any society with sufficient TL will have a huge amount of information about most of Charted Space. Actually digging it out of a data collection may be a problem, but any society capable of printing books would be able to have reams of information about the most remote places, much less places a mere couple of dozen parsecs away. There may be social reasons why a society wouldn't want all that information freely available, but as regard capability, every world should be able to have an encyclopedia for every world within a score of parsecs. And once you get up into true Information Age technology, we're talking libraries worth of information for worlds within hundreds of parsec.

(It's a view that I do my best to discourage in my players, mind you -- it tends to make it difficult to surprise them ;)).
