using decipher coda system from STAR Trek

well i was just reading the rules for The Decipher star trek game and love the rules a little reworking for equipment and it is very adaptible to the traveller universe.
i well have to deside on star ship construction
and covert weapons over but it look promising!

In someways, Decipher's CODA Star Trek does seem like a generic sci-fi system; in some ways, the advance system probably works better than the "class-level" combo in T20!

That said, the main problem, IMHO, that prevents CODA from being truly universal is the too-close tie-in technology-wise to Trek. This shows up most clearly in terms of starship design--elegant system, but dependent almost entirely on the Trek technology paradigms to really work for anything else. Now, if you merge the open-endedness of character creation with another equipment design system, you might have something...

I say go for it. It can't be any worse a starting point for a Traveller rule system than D20 :D
