Heres a scary thought....up lifted Army ants!!!!....wonder what their ships are like??
How do they live???....What do they EAT???....
what kind of enviroment can they live in....
Can they be allies or enemy???.....
Organized along military lines????.....Ranks???
ect, ect, ect.....

not just "bugs" in starship troopers....
but can talk and think and PLAN....HHHHHmmmmmmnnnn

I've always had moral issues with the concept of uplifting. It's brings about alot of questions and problems that didn't exist before.
Here's some issues:

• If an uplifted race commits a crime, particularly war crimes and genocide, are thier creator responsible? Remember owners and manufacturers of robots are liable with the crimes of the robot</font>
• If an uplifted animal is a failure or gets out of control. Does the creator have the right to kill them?</font>

Yes I use Vargr in my campaigns, but are the Ancients responsible for thier acts? If they didn't create Vargr, then there would have been one less cause of the decline of the Ziru Sirka. In fact, IMHO they may have taken the Terran threat more seriously.
Let us not forget if there was no Vargr, there would have been more than just a thin link (Corridor Sector) to the Spinward borders. I would contend that the region occupied by the Vargr is a large area of contention with the Zhodani and the 3rd Imperium.

All because someone gave some dawggies brains.

George i also think we should Uplift Mice and Rats....just look at Micky and Minnie...they both did pretty well for them selfs....and lets not forget Rizzo the rat...he filthy (no pun intended)

On a more serious note (yes I have a serious side) {and not just about killing things} I don't think just anything should go about getting uplifted. Some responsabilty from the parent race needs to be displayed about who and what get's uplifted.
Next thing you know the coffee bean will be uplifted and There goes YOUR entire trade profits in lawsuits about how You Opressed the masses. Had them ground underfoot just to make a profit, as it were.
