Traveller aliens

zonk

SOC-12
CT has 8 supplements on Traveller aliens. MT has two, Vilani & Vargr: The Coreward Races (Megatraveller Alien Series, Vol. 1) and Solomani & Aslan: The Rimward Races (Megatraveller Alien Series, Vol. 2).

Just how different are the two MT books on the Vargr and Aslan from the CT books? Cause the DGP books are expensive.

By the way, did MT not cover Droyne? Or Hivers? Or just in the rule books without a lot of expanded coverage?

More detailed, CGen gets the MegaTraveller Treatment.

Lots of additional nifty bits. Almost enough Aslan to deconstruct, much like RObject did with Vilani.

The Vilani do not appear in any CT alien modules, and therefore, that alone is worthy.

Page count per race is about double that of CT modules.

Just about everything published by DGP (if it was put out under their own label and not GDW's) is golden. These two alien books you mention are fantastic.

That's why they're so expensive. People don't want to give them up.

DGP is, by far, the best publisher of Traveller materials that has yet existed (including GDW, imo). They "knew" Traveller, and they "knew" what a GM needed in a book.

Great stuff.

You might want to also snap up every Traveller's Digest magazine you can put your hands on (and the MegaTraveller Journal as well).

The TD's are excellent sources of rules and material. The first half of the print run is focussed on CT. The last half is focussed on MT.

And, the MTJ's are not really recognizeable as magazines...they're more like complete game supplements.

The DGP books, as noted, have more extensive char gen but for the most part they just bolt chrome onto the existing CT modules. (The exception of course being the Vilani portion of V&V).

DGP never got around to treating either the Droyen or Hivers, although there was a Droyne/Zho book more or less in the works.

The goal was 5 volumes; 3 were written, 2 released.
Vol 1: Aslan and Vargr
Vol 2: Solomani and Aslan
Vol 3: Zhodani and Droyne (Rodger claimed to have a draft that was "almost ready"; The ancient ones claim that it was an early draft.)

Vols 4 & 5 not specifically mentioned, but we can assume that Hiver, K'kree, and Darrians would have been covered in these two, and probably also Vegans.

ISTR it was supposed to be Vol 4: Hiver and K'kree, Vol 5 Minor Races.

So it's chrome... nice but at $200 for the Solomani and Aslan book I don't think I can do it. The Vilani & Vargr is another $69 at Amazon.

I'd love to do it but I don't think I can afford them.

What kind of chrome am I forgoing?
