See You There,

My wife who controls the purse strings might say that there is not enough money to go...so here is crossing our fingers...

Good luck, my friend. If it helps, my budget is usually about $700-800 in total:

Basic Cost Analysis

$65 4-day Badge
$270 Airplane Ticket (Austin to Indy, round trip)
$160 Hotel Room (assumes divided by 5 people; usually is less by 20-40)
$25 Commemorative Gen Con T-Shirt
$20 Groceries (to cut down on eating out)
$50 Eating Out (I usually do so 2-3 times, including in the airport on the way home)
$30 Limo to and from airport (includes good tip both ways)
$20 True Dungeon

TOTAL: $640 ($335 paid in advance for badge and airplane tickets, so the cost is spread out somewhat; $305 on-site)

The extra money is for the dealer room. On good years, I can take up to $250 extra, which brings me up closer to $900 total, but since the costs are spread out, it's easier on the pocketbook. On tighter years, I have taken about what you see up above and not much more.

A friend of mine said that if you could put away $20 a week starting in January, you'd easily have enough to go. One year, I had to put it to the test by donating plasma, and I was easily able to attend using my "blood money".

Hope that helps,
Flynn

WOW! That it is really throwing your whole body into it. We use do donate blood for drinking money. What is the True Dungeon?

Its a LARP style dungeon crawl with puzzles/games/challenges/mock combat played in small groups to "simulate" a D&D style Dungeon crawl with realistic type sets.
