What are people's thoughts on the T4 ruleset? I love the space artwork in the books. What are its rules like compared with other editions? Does anyone in here play using T4?
I've run T4. I don't care for the task system, and the version of my dead tree copy lacks "This is Hard"... which was a hack to avoid maxing stats to be able to do everything.
TIH: If base difficulty as set is more dice than the skill level, increment final difficulty by 1. Solves most of the character issues.
That was from Twilight:2000 and The New Era, but T4 removed the part where different weapons had better or worse penetration for the same damage, which I thought was a mistake.I liked Emperor's Arsenal and the way Armor protection eliminated weapon damage dice (reduced to 1 point per eliminated die for flexible armor, and total elimination of die per point for rigid armor).
The setting was great! What are people's thoughts on the T4 ruleset? I love the space artwork in the books. What are its rules like compared with other editions? Does anyone in here play using T4?
T4 is the protocol type of T5, mostly. What are people's thoughts on the T4 ruleset? I love the space artwork in the books. What are its rules like compared with other editions? Does anyone in here play using T4?
A lot of the political changes introduce in T4 should be ignored, US liberals should not be the ones to define the politics of an authoritarian hereditary absolute monarchy, they apply their own biases.
The Imperial charter is laughable in its US constitution in space.
I consider T4 to be fanon at best.
Agent of the Imperium shows what the Imperium is/was really like. or at least Marc's vision of his Imperium.
That said I like the setting, and that it actually has enough info to go all the way to the 200s.
Article Vlll - Acknowledgement of Imperial Power:
Notwithstanding any provisions to the contrary contained in this document or in subsequent Imperial actions, the Imperium, for the purpose of ensuring its continued safety and stability, reserves to itself the power to unilaterally enact changes in any or all aspects of the relationship between itself and any member world or citizen.
I've never played Milieu Zero, but I still think it's a fantastic idea, a smaller Imperium with more unexplored/frontier areas. The OTU always feels a bit vanilla and over developed. That's probably why I tend more towards things like TNE or the Great Rift settings.T4 is the protocol type of T5, mostly.
I have considered using the T4 half die when looking at T5.
Setting-wise T4 is a grand setting. Honestly between the Interstellar Wars and Milieu Zero it's a toss-up.
