The Rebellion Redux

An idea has been simmering in my mind since the early T5 documents gave out a laundry list of possible milieux for development. Of all the Traveller eras, the Rebellion years seem the most closed off to future development, what with the era having a definitive beginning, middle and end. That said, if some one were to develop a new series of supplements or works set during the Rebellion era, what would you want to see?

Are there undeveloped regions or factions that could use fleshing out?

Or details, in adventure or supplement form, from the campaigns of the various factions?

In other words, if you had a chance to add to this setting, what would you bring?

First, and foremost, I would want to see the cyberpunkish SF noir be reinstated with a Rebellion Redux, as it seems like a perfect milieu to highlight the decent into the Dark of the Black War.

I would want to see more expanded Fighting Ships and their capacities, much as Trillion Credit Squadron gave way to Imperial Squadrons, I would want to see a supplement entitled Imperial Fleet Factions (do space combat on a real large scale - almost Wargame proportions but with realistic stellar geography).

More adventures, including Ommesium Quest & Black Duke (now I not even an outline exists but from the description, I am sure some could write a dandy set of adventures).

Soldiers' Tales, tales from each of the armed forces of the different factions. Adapting GT's proposed Small Wars into a Rebellion milieu.

Different factions fleshed out in adventures that tell their story.

Consolidating all the JTAS articles into MT form and updating the scenarios to fit a Rebellion era.

As this thread periodically comes up, there are countless ways to see the Rebellion as the one true Traveller.

Yeah, what he said.

More art about what people look like. Even B&W line drawings, nothing fancy.

Flesh out the “philosophical” differences between factions (not sure if it was already covered) to make them more real.

Did any of the MT stuff give hard numbers on the strengths of the different factions?

Now that I have some time to actually really respond to this...

I agree, as it has become a SF staple. TNE started down this road, and it has some good ideas to be mined, at least regarding cybernetics.

So then a larger scaled "Imperium?"

I agree this was necessary - I think there was a product in the pipeline ("Marc Miller's Battles for the Rebellion" or something like that). The fleet actions in MT were screaming for some kind of a large scale fleet-action game. I guess you could still do this if you could get your hands on Battle Rider, but the ship stats would be totally different.

More adventures, including Ommesium Quest & Black Duke (now I not even an outline exists but from the description, I am sure some could write a dandy set of adventures).
Or any adventures for that matter.
I have no real idea about what either of these proposed items was supposed to be about, aside from the latter obviously being something to do with Dulinor. As long as Sanger is sitting on the DGP stuff we will probably never know.

Pretty much all of them, except for Deneb.

The Rebellion Sourcebook was a good start for a thumbnail sketch of each faction, but there was absolutely no depth.

There was sooo much lacking in this department in these years that I just shake my head looking back.

There needed to be a sourcebook for each major faction that detailed the culture, major worlds, major corporations, races, etc. that encompass the faction, as well as sector maps of their areas. Adventures and/or adventure seeds that detail events in the wilds, frontiers and safes of each would be included.

Basically, a Path of Tears on a factional basis.

I want to say that either the Rebellion Sourcebook or FSOTSI had the Imperial map with the fleet breakdown, which you could then use to extrapolate the general fleet makeups (which would then include the reserves). I can't check at the moment, as I don't have my MT CD with me.
