Actually, Loren Green played Adama (that was his full name), whose rank was Commander. Characters in oBSG did not have a pattern of Given names and Family names.

The only thing I prefer about old BSG. Reduces the Yanks-in-Space thing a bit. nBSG looks like maybe the Terran Confederation in the early Interstellar Wars; too militaristic for UNSCA.

Face to face Servalan and Avon produce some of the best moments of the series. Brimming with tension. Looking forward to the new series (I think).

An overlooked moment was Colin Baker's guest appearance on Blakes 7. Whatever you may think of his Doctor Who, his Bayban The Butcher face-to-face with Vila was a classic. Actually, his audio Doctor Who at Big Finish Productions is miles better than his original performance, and Paul McGann has some really imaginative stories too (such as the Divergent Universe series, and who would have believed Daleks quoting Shakesphere would sound plausable?) :oo:

Also a vote for David Tenant (his stories might have been hokey at times but bags of passion), ditto for Eve Myles (Gwen Cooper in Torchwood).

Does "Life On Mars" count as SF? If so then lets not forget Philip Glenister (as DCI Gene Hunt): "Halt! You're surrounded by armed bastards."

Richard Benjamin as Adam Quark
"Ahhh, now that's what I call ingestion.

Or Richard Kelton as Ficus Pandorata
"Where I come from we don't kiss...we pollinate."

2 from Bab 5
Mira Furlan as Dalenn, before the hair, and best moment as the earth gov fleet closes in on Bab 5 when she leads a couple Minbarri cruisers to the stations defence.

Bill Mummy as Lennier

Putting the Cart Before the Horse

Before determining the best actor ever. It might be easier to have a finalist pool.

That would mean a poll per TV series. Then distill to a best of poll.

Worst actor ever? Psi-Lt. in STARSHIP TROOPER 2, as soon as I saw his face, I decided that turning the CD off might be a wise option. I failed to choose wisely.

"IT'S AFRAID!"

No shi... No kidding, Tovarich. Any sentient being would be scared shitless after being dragged out of its hiding place by a bunch of apes.

I deem myself fortunate that I didn't see the whole thing.

Nice list of course lists can't be all encompassing. I think DS9 had some of the best acting of any show. not necessarily the best writing it ranges from awful to great. The best way to enjoy it are the act as if the first two seasons did not exist. that said the show I enjoyed most is Firefly (wash is my favorite character) Better pacing and premise.

Hmmm,

Well first I voted for Andreas and said a small paryer for a great actor lost too soon..

But now I have to say..

Patrick Sterwart?!?!?!?
A man who was hired to play a french man, refused to even attempt to fit the part more than a few muttered french words and phrases from time to time and typified the ram rod straight Royal navy Captain???? Earl Grey my engine exhaust!
When an actor is hired to play a role he does not refuse to become the character and get applauds for his pig-headedness. He plays the part. Despite being a good actor(when his ego and attitude don't block him), It is too bad Stewart was not dumpped in favor of someone who would have actually played the character.

Yes, I realize that I stand vasty in the minority for standing up for some standards in acting. But you can not complain about some hacks while singing praises about other hacks. At leasts some of those listed as bad actors above don't know it. Patrick did what he did intentioanlly.

Marc

I'd go for Walter Koenig as Bester in Babylon Five. Just the right dgree of creepiness and certainly a long way from Chekov in ST.

And since Jayne is on the list what about Summer Glau as River.
indeed bester gives me nightmares sometime "Thanks" to Koenig do you supose he inist that psi cops not wear red as a condiction for the job

Well, ST:Voyager did try again with an actual Francophone actor for its Captain (if you count Qébécois as Francophone -- and I have actually met some French people who would have opinions about that ;)). Geneviève Bujold's performance in the initial tapings was so listless, however, that it was clear that her heart just was never in the project. So they went with Kate Mulgrew instead.

I guess French just isn't meant to be a langue des étoiles.

I have to say I's mighty surprized to see Jayne in there - him bein' my choice before even reading the list. Even more surprized seein' how he's getting a mess o' votes.

Shiney! :)

He's great charactor, but a bit too two dimensional to be called great acting.
